new to lifts!! help me ! 2003 f150 xl cab

hey guys just wondering about what kinda lift kit to get , id like a full kit all parts included , and i wanted about 3 inches of lift but i read that leveling kits can put a large amount of stress on your suspension system and id defiantly be off roading so would 3 inch levels be ok or should i go for a more expensive 4 inch suspension kit ? any imput would be great!!! thanks!

On my 01 4x4 I had those cheap aftermarket keys and loved em when I put em on. Cranked the front of the truck up about 2.5" loved how it looked. It rode rough as hell but I was ok with it since it was a truck. Had it on there for about 5 years, 3 cv axles and 2 idler arms and 1 Pitman arm later, id never do it again. Go with a full 4" kit or just turn your stock keys . About 1.5" tops and leave it.

Stock keys can go as far as they'll allow and it'll still be okay. And we don't even know if he's 4x4 or not.

So 2 wheel drive? In that case for 3" your choices are 3" coils with aftermarket control arms or either the 3.5" or 3" spindles.

Or you can install a 3 inch body lift on both.

You're going to have a hard time finding aftermarket control arms, especially ones that will accommodate 3" lift coils.

In your original post, you stated you only wanted 3". Best way to go is with a spindle kit and either block or add-a-leaf in the rear.

How is it hard to find the arms? Springtech, Canuck motorsports, doestch, and fabtech all make a kit that comes with the arms and coils. And you can buy the arms separately from almost all those companies.

Spindles are a good choice too, 3" or 3.5" depending on brand, but that's of he doesn't mind being 1.5" wider per side up front and still having the same track width in the back.

Spring tech is the only one you can buy the arms separately from. Fabtech stopped making theirs years ago. Spring tech arms are (or were last time I checked) junk, they almost never align properly and are known for bushing failures.

Not sure about Canuk, they came on the scene long after I stopped lifting my 2wd.

The only lift arms I have hands on experience with is Trailmaster, and from what I can tell, they're identical to the Spring tech's. Even suffered the same bushing failure.

For cost and less maintenance headaches, I'd stick with a spindle lift kit. If you need a bit more clearance, throw in a spring spacer and taller block in the back.
