Tie Rod Angle

So I've done some searching and haven't come up with anything that really applies to my situation.

I've lowered my truck and now my tie rods have too much of an angle and are pretty much trashed. If I could relocate them to the bottom of the spindle then they would be level again and it should be good to go once I replace them. Has anyone ever had to do this? Can you just take a taper bit and drill to the correct depth to have the tie rod seat in the spindle correctly? What about the nut on the top side if so, will there be enough material for the nut to hold onto with having a larger hold on the top? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I finally got a chance to snap some pics. Both sides are like this. Anyone got any ideas of what I can do to fix it let me know.

Can't you flip the end and come at it from underneath? In my 4x4 they came in from the bottom from the factory, but my lift called for them to come in from the top. I flipped the end and everything seems to be fine.

The ends are tapered and I don't think that they will just flip over. I was thinking that I could just put a taper in the bottom side of the spindle but wasn't sure if that would compromise the spindle or if it would not let the tie rod nut be able to fasten all the way down and torque down correctly.

The ends are tapered, but not the hole in the knuckle that they go into. I didn't have any trouble torqueing them down.

Interesting, I always thought that the spindle was tapered as well. If that's the case then you're right, I should be able to simply just swap them over.

Yeah. That looks like it would knock 10-15 degrees off your angle. Of course, mine is an '06 and yours might be different. Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing and how it turned out.
