~ Level kit dissapointment

Im a little dissapointed with the 2" Level kit now that it has settled a tad.....or Im getting used to it.

SO, rather than get a 4" suspension lift now (Which is what I shoul dhave done in the beginning) I was thinking of adding the followig to the Rancho 2" Level:

1.5" Rear AAL
But what can I do to the front to get another 1" lift? Can I just get a 1" Spacer to go ontop of the Rancho setup?

thoughts?

What do you mean "settled"? There is nothing to settle when you add a steel spacer in between the stock strut and mount.

The Rancho setup is not made that way though....
As shown in the pic above, the Lower spring mount is where the 2" Adjustment is made with a urethane spacer. It is my beliefe that the welded spring seat is attached to the strut a littl ehiogher than the stock spring perch too. The truck may not have settled, maybe Im just getting used to the height. either way, It needs to grrow taller somehow.

Id prefer NOT spending the $1500 for a 4" setup.
That's why I thought of adding a Daystar 1" Spacer ontop of the already mounted Rancho Quicklift.

If you have a 3 inch level up front you're going to create a LOT of stress on your front end. Spend the money and do it the right way.

Right. 2.5 inches is the limit with a leveling kit/spacer or aftermarket coilover before the ball joint angles get too severe to last.

OK....and the only size option for a Body lift is 3" right!?
Is there a way to cut that BL down to 2" or even 1"?

if not, I might just get a 4" Lift when it is time then and sell the Quick-Lift setup.

They dont make body lifts for our stepside trucks, you would have to do some custom fabbing to the rear bumper mounts in order for it to work. I know some people have them on flaresides such as mhockey but im not sure how he mounted his rear bumper or hitch after a body lift. If you end up doing this post some pics so we can see how you mounted yours. I have the rancho lift on my truck and it has been flawless not issues whatsoever.

Get them. They are great. I just put a set on my truck about 6 weeks ago. The ride is awesome. I removed the autospring leveling kit I had because the ride was horrible. I also installed Rancho shocks on the back, so I did a complete change over. I kept my 1.5" AAL, so I didn't lose any height all around. Its so easy to adjust the firmness of the ride to suit the driving conditions. You won't be disappointed.

So you are saying that the Rancho QuikLift leveling struts & rear shocks ride better than the OEM shocks & struts with a 2" AS? In your definition, what is 'better ride' to you? Less body roll/shake? firmer? softer? I had the Bilstein 5100 leveling & shocks on my '04 and the ride really stiffened up, was quite stiff after my 33" M/Ts also. I am now in a stock '07 and loving the OEM comfortable suspension due to how soft it is and smooth it rides. I know a lot of the ride is in the tires but would these Rancho shocks stiffen the ride quality some? I actually do not want that, but I want a 2" level again. I had figured the 2" AS over motorcraft struts would do me well but I dont know.

Funtuff, those are some extreme angles. I hope those angles are with the truck off the ground.

You can adjust the ride to fit your comfort. And yes, there is a setting that will give you the OEM ride. The settings range from 1 to 9 with the lower number being softer. If you go with the AS, your ride will be very stiff.

Yeah, but thats with any leveling kit. When I had the AS leveling kit, I believe the angles were worse. Especially on the upper ball joints. I had the AS 2.5" installed as soon as I bought the truck back in 2006. So its been about 5 years. I'm going to replace the upper and lower balll joints in the next month. I'm searching for Moog ball joints now.

That is not good. Honestly I wouldn't drive it like that if it were my truck. The suspension geometry is all off and if you hit a big bump you're going to break something like a drive shaft.

That's the main reason why I hate level kits.
