If I get this lift....

I found a 5" suspension lift for my truck and it is a 1997 f150 4x4. I been told if I get this lift I would have to put gears in my truck and I was wondering.. If anyone has a truck like mine could you please tell me if I need to or not. Thanks

welcome to the forum!

getting a lift doesnt mean you "have" to get new gears. its the bigger tires associated with the lift that you will want to regear for. having said that, you can run 35's on the stock gears for a while till you save enough money.

what motor do you have?

Right. But a lot depends on your truck and how you use it. If you have a smaller engine and taller gears and tow/haul a lot you will probably have to regear vs. someone who has a larger engine, lower gears and doesn't tow/haul heavy loads.

If you go much over stock on the tires you will want to re-gear. You'll be glad you did too!!!!!

Yeah. The 4.6 will be struggling with the bigger tires.

if you get the lift but keep the same size tires you will be fine. the lift wont effect the trucks ability to drive other than a higher center of gravity and more wind resistance while driving.
