Shock Replacement

My 2002 F150Scab5.4FX4 that I bought last year rode a bit stiff for my tastes. I previously had a 2000F150Scab4x4 with 5.4 engine that rode better. It wasn't an off road model. So, I replaced the stock Rancho shocks with Monroe Sensatracs. It does have a little more velvety ride but there probably isn't enough difference to justify replacing them. Just passing on my experience. The spring rates may be a little higher for the FX4. (Or my memory is failing! Since I'm only 66, that can't be! Ha!) I recently replaced the Dunlop tires with Michelin LTs (both stock sizes) and that made a difference in the ride and handling. The Dunlops had a max pressure of 35psig and the Michelins have a 44psig max rating and I run them at 40psig. So, that may be the difference in the handling feel. Between the tires and the shocks, I do like my truck's ride better than before!
