The deal with hell bent steel....
I have a 2006 f150 stx 2wd and shes hungry for a leveling kit. I noticed a couple of guys on this site have HBS 3" leveling kits. Why are they so cheap? Are they any good and how are they holdin up for you guys?
also 4 wheel parts told me i could fit 35s without any rubbing with a pro comp 3" level and a 1" block in the back. Not on stock rims though of course. Seems tight to me but i dont really know too much about it.

I wouldn't try to fit 35's on a 4x2 with a leveling kit. I'd stick with 33's. Also, some members here have found that the 3 inch kits leave the ball joints at too severe of an angle to last. I'd suggest sticking with a 2.5 inch kit.
As for the HBS kit, it's a quality product like the Autospring kit and other similar designs. The real question is how can Ready Lift sell an almost identical kit for over twice the price?

and if your wanting to fit 35's, stock rims are your only choice to guarantee the best possibility of fitting. you will rub at full lock no matter what. a friend has 33's on his 2wd and rubs at full lock due to width of tire.
a few have posted up 35's on a 2wd leveled and said no rubbing, so possible, yes, but you will rub at full lock. id stick with an AT so you dont have the huge side lugs like a MT will.
and 4 wheel parts i would not trust anything they say. they don't know as much as people think.

i had the 3" HBS on my 07 and when i traded it in with like 40 thousand on the clock. (and i beat her to death) i never had a problem how ever 40000 miles is not that much of a test. and all i ran was 33" but never rubbed or dragged at all! so in all it was a strong kit and am going to get it for the new 2010when the wife s expo is done with its make over!

stock rims
06yz250f-
Yeah the reason im getting new rims was so the 35s will fit without rubbing. The rims im looking at are the same size they just have negative offset. The positive offset on the stock rims would make it rub. The tires im looking at are the general grabbers which are on the all terrain side.

Im glad to know that these kits are serving people well!

my 6" lifted 4x4 with 4.5" backspacing (-8 offset) rubbed my 35's (315/70/17 so not even a true 35) occasionally.
your going to want a positive offset wheel. wandell will be able to tell you exact specs, i'm not sure of all that stuff.

Which end?
Would it be the front that I would have problems with the tires rubbing? You also said the 3 inch level leaves the ball joints at too severe of an angle. Is that angle from the front end being higher then the back? Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

this is a 4wd, but see how the control arm is angled down, it has cranked torsion bars (same as leveling kit in this explanation, just different style of suspension) basically as you make the angle more and more it stresses everything more.
