I've done it and it wasn't terrible easy. There is a special tool for it if I recall correctly.

Hmmm, I've done lots of outers, but inners?!? Never...on any vehicle.
Looking at a picture, it looks to have a threaded end but other than wrenching it, I have no idea. Plus I'd suggest replacing the outers too while you have it all apart.

Post pics and document your install as you have me curious as to how to replace the inners.

Good luck.

There cake. Disconnect the outer tie rod, then pull the boot off your rack, the if you look there will be a bolt running from the inner into the rack. just use a regular wrench and and break it loose and it should just twist right off. The special tool is for the ones that are stubborn and don't wanna twist off. i work for a suspension shop and dont have the tool, ive always gotten away with just a normal wrench. and if you wanna get the special tool its only like 50 bucks...

Ummm i can have both inners done on average in about 20 minutes on a bad day...they dont take long at all. Just when you take the boot off there might be a plastic cover over where you need to put your wrench on, just make sure you either count your turns or measure your outer tie rods so your alignment is close then get it to the alighment shop quickly.

Wow, that's really good info...I never knew that.

And glad you recommended measuring the tie rod before taking it apart. For guys who don't have a lot of experience, measure several times from a point to the outter rod end, and since the OP is doing inners too, measure to the inner end as well. Install your ends and match up to your measurements. It'll make your drive to the alignment shop a whole lot less scary!

I replaced one. It was pretty easy. I had to use a Pitman arm puller to get it out. for sure have autozone or where ever loan you one. I wouldnt of been able to do it without one because there isnt room in there to break it loose with a hammer

Your truck is older so you have a centerlink set up...his is new and has a rack n pinion so there is no need for a pitman arm puller.

So what size is the wrench needed for the inner tie rods? I need to do the inner on the drivers side of my 06 F150 5.4 4X4.

Nobody? Come on, I'm planning on doing this tomorrow and having the correct wrench would be nice.
