Probably not going to be much ride improvement there. Those coil springs around the shock are pretty stiff for what they are...they serve the exact same purpose of add-a-leafs to support extra load. Then the internals in the shock must also be firm enough to control the rate of the new coil spring plus the suspension. Most likely will have a stiffer than stock ride with no load in the bed. IMO, unless you were hauling a load 70-90% of the time, I'd steer clear, but that's just me. There's better out there and then if you need load support, look into air bags.

thanks for your thoughts... I've been looking around on the site and have seen good reviews... I guess its just going to be one of those things where I will have to try them to truly see... anything has to be better than the OEM...

I've been thinking about buying those for several months. My truck is a daily driver for work and family, but on the weekends I haul rocks, dirt, etc. I have a tendency to overload and thought these would be great. I just haven't bought them yet, I was waiting for winter to be over first. I didn't see any reviews, I was going to make a post asking about them and then I saw yours. Advanced has a sale going on now, if you spend over $150 you save $30 and get free shipping.

Thanks for the info. I first saw the shock was for the Heritage model only, but after looking a little farther I found the one for the new body style. It is Monroe sensa-track load adjusting shock absorber 58643 for $94.92 a pair. The dude at Advance told me that it wouldn't effect the ride any when not under load. I'm sure that he was just trying to make the sale. I will be buying them from Amazon, and saving $41.07 I'll post how they are when I get them and find time to install them.

Well I just got the new Monroe's on. I ordered them at 1:30 pm on Fri 4/9/10 from Amazon. Total cost of $94.92, no tax and free shipping. When I ordered them, they claimed shipping would take 6-9 business days. I received them on wed 4/14/10. So far I am extremely happy with them, although my factory ones were completely shot. The ride seems to be very nice, but I don't have much to compare them to, I think my only suspension was the leaf springs. I was shocked at the fact that they actually lifted the truck about 1 3/8 inches. I'll be getting a load of bricks weighing about 1800 lbs. tomorrow. I'll take a picture before loaded, when loaded, and when the load has been removed. I'm curious to see if the truck sits a little lower after the load is removed compared to now. I was going to buy lift shackles, but I wanted to see how the truck sat first after the shocks were mounted. Right now it sits about where I would like it too. With a 2.5 level kit, it gave an optical illusion of the front being a little higher due to the wheel well being a little larger on the front, but if you looked at the body line you could tell that it was level. I will try to post pictures in a size that is easy to see.

I'm still using the factory on the front. I'm sure people on here will tell you different, but they still seemed OK. A strut assembly will last a lot longer than a shock. When I do replace the front, I will probably get the bilsteins.

I have got to say that I am very happy with the Monroe shocks. I didn't realize how much the rear was rolling over in the corners with the old shocks. It feels like a completely different truck.. I took pictures of before loaded with bricks and after loaded, and then with it emptied out. I'm having problems uploading pictures into my gallery. I will post them when I get that figured out. After it was unloaded it stayed squated about a 1/4 from where it was after I put the shocks on. I had 1920lbs plus the weight of the pallet. It was not bottomed out and still had room to go. I could hardly tell I had a full load. I know that because I have these shocks that it doesn't mean that I can overload it, but I have a tendency to push it to it's limits and I was very happy with how it sat and felt while loaded with a heavy load. It is still sitting a solid in. taller than it was with the factory shocks. There is no need for me to be getting the rear lift shackles now.[IMG][/IMG]
