Spacer Kits vs. Adjustable shocks 5100's

I have searched and searched and only find info that AutoSpring is the best choice.

But what I am trying to find out is what are the pro's and con's of going with a top spacer vs. bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks.

I do know the con's on the spacer are it puts somewhat bad angles on your CV boots but does this happen as well with the 5100's??

Thanks for any input.

The really only time the spacer will put bad angles on the CVs is if you go with the 3" and then still beat on it offroad. If you need new shocks go with the Bilsteins. If you don't and don't want to spend as much money go with the AS. Both are great kits for what they are, I went with the Bilsteins and do not regret spending the extra bit considering how much better they ride than my stock shocks with 50k on them.

The Bilstein 5100 will create similar angles as the AS, or any other spacer as far as that goes. The only way to avoid these angles is to go with a full suspention lift, there your spindle length is increased so you upper control arm does not have to angle downward and your front diff is relocated resulting in little to no angles (parallel).

Also 06xlt4x4 is correct reguarding the 3" spacer, avoid it. Go with either a 2'' or a 2.5'' on my 08 the 2.5'' made my front a touch higher than the rear, the 2" will prob work great for you. If you have the money by all means get the Bilsteins but having an 09 there is no NEED to at this point.

The Bilstiens give you some lift and a much better shock. The leveling kits just give you a small lift at a low cost. It's that simple.

Mine already had the 2" AS kit on it when I bought it. I have been pretty happy with it overall, but with the truck having about 43k on it now, I will definitely be replacing the shocks in the next 6 months or so. And when I do, the AS kit is coming out and the 5100's are going in.

Oh I didn't notice you had a 09, whoops. Should all still be the same though

Can you select different amounts of lift on the 5100s like 1.5 inch or is it something like 2" or nothing? Is the better ride of the bilsteins softer or firmer?
