Nah i dont have a deal on the 4bt. theres a few reasons im going with the 3.9 over the 5.9

1. weight: im trying to keep the truck as light as possible, just over 5500 pounds hopefully

2.Mounting the 4bt fits better in my engine bay, it will be easier to work on, if i was to do the 5.9 id have the last 2 cylinders behind the firewall so id have to yank the engine anytime i needed to work on it.

3.Efficiency The 4bt is know to get well over 20 MPG even with over sized tires. If i could get 20 id be amazed but ive seen this same motor get 30+ in some BIG trucks

4.Simple The motor is SIMPLE to uprade, especially if you get the P-pump. THe VE pump is good to 300HP but the P-pump is perferred for high HP/TQ goals. Its popular to get used turbos and other parts from the 5.9

5.Original The 4bt isnt very common in my neck of the woods, everyone wants the 5.9. Im tryin for something different.

6.Power The 5.9 can make EXTREME amounts of power and torque. That same thing can also cause alot of broken parts. Im not easy on my truck and wont be even after the swap. A 5.9 and the way i offroad will equal broken parts OFTEN. The 3.9 is capable of over 1000 FTBL's of torque (not common but possible) A 3.9 with 300hp and 550tq will be PLENTY for me, and for the most part the motor will remain stock. Then tamper with the power levels later on.

Thought i should post one of the BIGGEST F150's ive ever seen.

Nice! I'm not sure of all the specs of that black one that I posted earlier. All I know is it was built in Lake Butler, FL, has Military axles, and it was at a BBQ that I attended with my wife and stepdaughter.

trimble, touche'...Those are all valid reasons and quite respectable. With the proper gearing (sounds like you have that covered) that little motor will turn some huge tires. I guess I never thought of the downside of "too much power" and breaking stuff. Once together have you thought about making the trip down to redneck yacht club?

what size tires are those?

the front and back look to be different sizes. Might just be point of view.

Yeah it is really really close.

I believe the biggest TSL's they make are 44's i might be wrong.

So IF they are 44's, then that truck will be about 4-6" taller than mine.

But im not sure if those are REALLY 44's

My lowest point will be at 40" with 37.5" tires (tires arent exact 40" like i planned)

But after i up grade to hydro assist then ill be looking for some 46" Baja Claws or 47" Pitbull Growlers

Ill have enough room to clear 54's if i want to.

Well, bored at work, so figured I would do a quick search. Not sure how much shipping would be, but here you go.

Leaf springs:

tires and springs

Random tires. Would be expensive to ship, but I've been seeing a lot of them, so figured I would post.

I think i remember you saying itll be mainly a mud truck so why not a 47" LTB or a 54" bogger? Id think the claws and growlers would be better for rocks than mud, atleast thats what ive been reading over on pirate.

MADMAX: I really never thought about the LTB's.

deffinitely not running 54" boggers. IMO they are junk. The tread depth doesnt get any deeper between a 44 and a 54. So unless i found a set for CHEAP i would even consider them

Im gonna try to keep my 16.5 wheels for a while.

The LTB's are a great tire, The growlers actually dig pretty well in mud. Not anything like a swamper but acceptable.

The progress on the truck is going rather SLOW right now. Waiting on rear leaf springs that way we can send the d-shafts out to get extended. Hopefully this week it will be roling.
