how to level in rear

I have a 2001 4x4 supercrew it sits lower in the rear because i have a box that weighs in around 700-800 lbs. I was wonder the best way to get the swag out of the rear end. It becomes really bad when i am pulling trailers.

There is three different ways i have looked at.

Add a leaf. cheap but would it stiffen the ride alot.

air spring kit or helper spring air. more money but is adjustable to increased load.

helper springs (steel). dont understand how they work but do they work.

any help would be nice
Zach

I say AAL, the longer one will not be as stiff as the shorter on and with a load they will not ride as stiff as when unloaded.

I agree I would go with a pro comp AAL it will give you 2" in the rear and it won't stiffen it up bad, it will also increase you payload I'm pretty sure they make one for your truck

not sure if it's something you'd be interested in, but you can get larger blocks to put between the springs and the rear axle. it won't change your ride quality, but unloaded, your back end would sit taller than your front. also not sure what blocks are available for the '01s. have the 3" AS blocks on my 06 and i really like em.

Ok i think i will try aal. So i need to find a longer leaf over a short leaf.

I dont wanna try blocks because it used to sit level but when i put in my speaker box it dropped it a little (the box weighing between 700-800 lbs). With that added weight when i add my 21' boat it sits low in the rear.

blueovelboy, have u ever had a problem with the air bags

blueovelboy,
What make, model air suspension are you talking about? I looked up a few online (AIRLIFT) They sound like just air shocks. What I am looking for is something sitting in the middle of the leafs (on top), between the axle and frame)

was talking about airlift and yes for the f150 it dose set on the axial and goes to the frame! and a aal is set in stone you are at what you are at with air bags you can adjust them by adding or removing air so when you hall something big you can make your truck look level still and the ride is awesome

I recently had add a leafs installed. I too was a little concerned that it would make the ride more stiff, but I really haven't noticed a difference as of yet. I think the heavier the truck the less likely you are to notice a difference. They brought my rear end up 1.5 inches. I am very happy with my choice.
