37s
37s
alright so I wanna run 37s on my truck.. i've seen numerous members on here running 37s with 6" suspension lifts (Fabtech, Pro Comp etc..) and I dont want the RIZE kit cuz it's too darn expensive. From looking at people's trucks and reading threads i've come to this conclusion... 6" Pro Comp or Fabtech lift with 2.5" AAL. Would i be able to run 37x13.50s on that? (maybe some minor trimming?)
dude, you have a 97-03. rize and procomp are not an option. the 04-08's have a coilover based IFS, you have a torsion bar based IFS. The only way you are going to clear 37's and keeping your truck reliable is to do the 6'' suspension lift (fabtech, RCD, BDS) and a 3'' Performance Accessories body lift. There is no other way to keep the truck reliable while keeping the torsion bar based IFS. Your only other option would be a solid axle swap (not cheap or easy). All the BIG suspension lifts for our generation trucks tend to fall apart under any stress.
In any case, running a 37, you are going to have to regear, preferably to a 4.88 ratio. Otherwise, you'll find the transmission gives up the ghost in about a year or less. This is not going to be cheap: suspension lift ~$1500, body lift ~$200, wheels ~$700-$1000, tires ~$1200, gears installed ~$1500. You have to do BOTH axles in a 4x4. If you don't regear and blow the transmission, rebuild it, and still don't regear, you will blow it again. The question is, how deep are your pockets?
Also, there is no coilover conversion kit I know of for the 4WD 97-03. The 2WD version is not cheap, either.

You made a post earlier about being in the market for a 04-08 right. you can add a 2.5in leveling kit spacer in the front with the fabtech lift, however its not recommended because of the angles of the ball joints, uca's. The procomp already has a 6" spacer so stacking another spacer on top of that is really dangerous and probably shouldnt be done, but its been done. You can clear 37's with a 6" lift with a coilspring spacer. That would be the cheaper route. Or you could buy DL coilovers

dude, you seriously need to update your info then. not everyone was aware that you sold your 01. fx4tough07, sorry for the backlash response. i'll leave the advice to the guys who have lifted their 04-08's.
hahah
Well, the thing is I don't have it YET.. my dad and I are in the market for a newER truck for me, and I will probably have to get a loan.. We will see how it works out... I'm keepin my fingers crossed with gas how it is, the old man is real hesitant to get me a V8 anything. lol.. but I think it'll all work out.. (knocks on wood lol)... Anyways, back to the topic of the 37s, my pockets aint deep enough for re-gearing and all that stuff, so maybe i'll stick to 35s????
