My 08 has a 6 inch Skyjacker with a 2.5 inch spacer. My angles are nothing compared to what I've seen on here... I am able to run 37's no problem with some minor trimming. However, I would not recommend taking such a setup on any seriouse offroading adventures.... Mine is a street queen, actually more of a storage queen because Im never home to drive it...

For you guys claiming "you need to run 4.88's" what are you basing that logic on??? Im still running 3.73's just fine. I turn off overdrive around town and on the highway at 75-80 mph I am able to keep it in overdrive pretty much the whole time at those speeds. I realize that there is added stress to my tranny. Running 3.73's with 37's feels like youre towing a boat, something this truck was designed to do. I ran a gear calculator a while back and it said 4.30's would give me the same ratios as stock. I wish I would have bought the truck with 4.11's because I know it would run 37's just fine. So for you guys claiming the need for 4.88's, have you ever run 37's? Yes re-gearing should happen, but 4.88's are a bit excessive.

You can get away with 3.73 or 4.11 gears with 37's. They will turn them fine. To run the 37's, most people recommend running 4.88's.

4.88's are a blast. You feather the pedal and the truck takes off like a sports car. Not excessive in the least bit in my opinion.

I disagree with those of you who say you are fine on stock gears unless its just a flat land pavement pounder. I just got back from the mountains, and my truck was an absolute slug going uphill, especially at elevation. It was horrible, the tranny was ****ting itself. And that is saying something since i have the 3.73 gears, 5.4 engine, intake, Troyer Tunes, exhaust etc. (I have a 6" fabtech w/ 35s).

I will be getting 4.88s here soon most definitely.

I would have to agree with you MSal. I have a 6 inch on 35's right now with the 5.4L and 3.73's as well. When I take it up to my cabin in the mountains it is really hard on the transmission. I'm looking into a body lift to clear 37's too without a regear, my tranny will probably fall out first time I take it up there.
