yeah. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I put about 35 miles on it yesterday, and just guesstimating from how much the needle dropped, I'd say I used about 3 - 4 gallons. I could be totally off though as that isn't the most reliable method to check lol.
I'm babying this thing though. I'm only driving with overdrive off till I get new gears, and I barely even throttle it to get around. I just sort of coast lol.

I am going to regear before I get bigger tires I just cant stand the thought of the trans going out yet($3000 or more ouch), I`ve got 3.73`s now and I am getting on average 11.5 mpg right now and this is driving easy when it gets driven hard it gets 8-9 mpg which sucks with gas being high, but I think 4.88`s would help alot, what gears do you have now cashel?

I've got 3.55ls right now . I know it's horrible to be driving it like it right now, but I'm limiting my driving as much as possible till I get new gears.
The truck really seems to have more power with this gear/tire setup than I thought, but I definitely won't be flooring it around town, and I'm definitely getting gears as soon as I can get the cash together.
Oh and i saw your post in the other thread. I'll get ya the measurements later on today.

Gears on a stock truck will warrent a mpg drop. But most of the time people put gears on after they have big tires. And with bigger tires comes more rolling mass so it makes the motor work harder. Thus using more gas on stock gears which easily drop fuel to single digits, but then when re-geared it returns the truck close to factory ratios. Thus you will see an increase in mpg's instead. Hope this makes sense its been a long morning.

Well here is what I am thinking. 6" Fabtech with 5"rr blocks and I guess 35x12.50's or the biggest I can go. I think I have 3.55's so I'm thinking of re-gearing to 4.88's. Will my MPG be close to factory then?

That I do not know, but if you ask over in the tire section there is a guy named wandell who is the tire guru. He can tell you that, but even with the size of the tire narrowed down each companies tire is made differently and thus have different weights. I would not be to concerned and would expect the 1-2 mpg loss overall after all of that is said and done. That is a conservative statement so you could do even better then that just a ball park number for you.
