Well here is what I am thinking. 6" Fabtech with 5"rr blocks and I guess 35x12.50's or the biggest I can go. I think I have 3.55's so I'm thinking of re-gearing to 4.88's. Will my MPG be close to factory then?
Your mpg will still be lower than stock because you have more rolling mass, air resistence, and more weight.

Plus the with 35's and 4.88's you will be lower than the stock final gear ratio. which means at highway speeds you will burn more gas. but in town you will gain mpg.

Overall you will gain a few mpg over stock gears and big tires.

But remeber gearing isnt meant to bring mpg back its to keep strain off the tranny and get lost power back!

Gears help city MPG and hurt highway MPG. Period. If your worried about MPG, a nice alternative would be 4.56 gears for you.

Gears will also help extend the life of your trans, T-Case, and engine. Also, you'll feel a "return" of power.

Lifts do drastically hurt MPG's. It increases wind drag and makes your truck incredibly UN-aerodynamic. Bigger tires add heavier unsprung weight, and increase rolling resistance which lowers your MPG's.
