wheel alignment after new shocks
No you do not need to just because of shocks. If it has been a while though, it would not hurt.
Normally you don't need an alignment when replacing shocks because they don't usually support any weight. However, the 04-08 F-150's use a coilover shock up front, which supports the weight of the truck. So, a change in shocks could cause a slight change in spring preload, which will change your alignment. I'd play it safe and get an alignment even if the shocks are supposed to be set at the same ride height.

yes i did read his quote, but that still shouldn't effect it. only if you change a tie rod end or ball joints or something in the steering column then yes, but shock, i don't think it's worth it. thats just my opinion. And if you want, you can check with a tape measure and see if your off. All you do is place the tape measure in the front of the two tires, and measure the distance, and then do the same thing on the back of the front tire.
Had the front and rear alignment check yesterday at N.T.B. and they were still in alignment. At N.T.B. if you don't need an alignment they don't charge so it was free. Thats good pay zero money and have peace of mind.
Well ya' know.....
I have a buddy, with a shop, and lift rack, who I will have "check" my alignment. And since he is a buddy, he will tell me first what the readings "should be".... then measure them, and then, if it needs adjustment, he will do it. If not, he won't. I'm sure he won't charge me a penny if no adjustments are required... But I'll tip him $20 for his time anyway.
If it does require a few turns on a wrench, he might charge me $50, but either way, it's a "great thing" to have friends who are certfied mechanics ;-)
