Autpspring kit: after installation cost?

For all those who've installed the 1.5, 2 or 2.5inch autospring front leveling kit, what, if anything, did you have to do to the truck after installation? The manufacturer says you need to have the front end aligned - is this true? If so, how much does this typically cost and does the process change with the new kit installed? In other words, will a local alignment shop know how to perform the alignment with the aftermarket kit installed?

I just want to know what I am getting into before I order the kit.

Also, it would be great to hear from those who installed the kit themselves. Can a guy do this by himself in an afternoon? How hard is it to do? Any special tools required?

I spent $50 at my local Ford dealership on a front end alignment. Yes, You have to get it aligned.

I would definitely do it yourself. All you need is basic hand tools and maybe a friend. Getting the upper ball joint back into the upper control arm is much easier with a extra set of hands. The instructions are pretty straight forward and there are a couple of good write-ups on here as well if you search for them. "autospring install" or something similar should find the threads.

All said and done I spent 300. I had to replace the front passenger spring and a lower ball joint, but usually you only have to get an alignment mine was 70 at a local shop..I did the install by myself, not hard as long as you follow the instructions.

No hijack, but hmfic do you get any rubbing with those 305's and the 2" leveling kit? I have a 2 1/2" AS kit on order and was thinking about getting those same tires. How about the ride with the AAL's? Do the AAL's make the ride harsher? How is the tire wear with the stock wheels?

No rubbing. The AAL does stiffen the ride a tad, but nothing that anyone that rides in my truck even notices. I noticed a little bit, but I was looking for it.
There are many people running these and even wider tires on the stock wheels without a problem with tire wear. I run about 40 psi and have even wear.

I installed my level kit myself in a little over an hour. I got my front end aligned for $39. You should only need a toe adjustment. Don't let them try to screw you on getting a camber/caster adjustment and the adjustment bolts because it is not necessary. My camber/caster was still dead on.

Installed myself in a couple of hours with no problems. Front end alignment was all that was needed after install. Have had installed for a few months now with no regrets.
