I just put on 295/70/17 nitto terra grapplers on my 02 F150 4X4 and had the torsion bars cranked. The front looks exactly how I wanted it, but it measures 2" higher than the rear does. I am pretty sure I want to just AAL the rear , but do you think 2 or 2 1/2" ?? Is the AAL the easiest way to go? I don't mud with this truck, just to work and hunting and I also don't care how smooth the ride is. I also don't think I want to spend the money on the airbags either. So, does that leave me only with AAL or rear blocks?? Where is the right place to purchase the proper items?? All opinions are greatly appreciated. thanks guys, I'll post pics of my truck as well.

 

I put the aal in my 99 and I really didn't ride that rougher.I liked it> It was a pro comp AAL I got from summitracing.

 

I think you should get a 1.5" aal and lower the front.

 

EIther a add-a-leaf or larger block will work fine.

 

can you post any pics of your truck with the new tires?

I cranked my torsion bars and added a 2" add a leaf in preperation for getting your exact tire size and possibly that tire. I'm just curious to see what it would like like. I gotta save up for the tires and since i'm getting that size tire i'm saving to re-gear too! super expensive but its all worth it.

i dont have torsion bars but i put a 2.5 spacer and an AAL in the back of mine and it has a slight rake to it, that you can hardly tell

i've been meaning to ask you guys about that. my mechanic said I don't need it and I'm wasting money. he said everything stayed perfect and where it needs to be. do you think I still should get it done?

 

the guys who helped me crank my torsion bars and put the AAL in at the same time said that an alignment wasnt nessecary either. However, over the summer i worked at Firestone as an Intern and took adavantage of their sale on lifetime alignment service. Figured i'd just bring it in to have them check it and it def. did need to be aligned a little bit. Mine as well align it since you dont want to ruin those new tires.

 

Of course you do. Any time you make height adjustments in the front end you need to get it aligned.
