fx4 vs 4x4

Someone help me out here, why would it matter how old the thread is if the topic is still valid and someone wants more info, or wants to add something? Why would you feel stupid?

FX4 does NOT sit any higher. Same stance as a factory 4x4 from factory.
Comes standard with 5.4 3v and 3.73 gears and rear LS. You can get these as an option on any model.
Shocks are the sames. 32mm valving front and 34mm valving rear IIRC. No difference with other models
FX4 comes standard with leather interior, flow through console, and a "special" instrument cluster. All can be done as an option on any model, or done through the aftermarket.
"Skid plates" = plastic splash guards. Better then nothing, but they are what we call "splash guards". It aint gunna "skid", thats for sure. Again, these can be put on any model, not just fx4.
Hope this helps some.
Oh, and can't forget the stickers and badging.

Some might feel stupid because they didn't know it was so old. I dunno. No worries though bud. I open old ones all the time.

Good question. I know 4x4 gains some lift, but I don't know if its the strut or coil. I would guess its the strut, but could be wrong. Maybe a whole new coilover all together.

[QUOTE=MercedesTech;3532345]Don't feel like arguing technicalities. Its not a "skid plate" but a splash guard. Try skidding it over a rock obstacle. They are thin, and not going to protect you from much. Like I said, better then nothing. I would rather make my own outta some 1/4 thick steel.
Since they are metal, probably 1/8" by the looks of them, I would say a little better than plastic. Just wanted to clear that technicality up. If someone was thinking of ordering skid plates as an option and saw your post saying they were plastic that's a bit misleading. IMO.
