fx4 vs 4x4

Is there a difference in the stock suspensions between the basic 4x4 package and the FX4 packages?? (stiffer shocks / springs etc.)

Ya its still the case... I am not sure how different they actually are, but supposedly the fx4 package has shocks tuned more for off-road use. Also the fx2 is suppose to have differently tuned shocks for more street driving/performance. Nothing too drastic tho.

Marshmallow Larry-At's and Hush-puppy KR's may be different, but the other '04+ NBS 4x4 variants all feel the same to ol' bubba's butt-dyno

i am asking because my bosses 04 and 06 4x4 f-150's both ride much better then my 05 fx4. I dont mind cause it's a truck but its an on going debate at work. My shocks have to be different because his rides like a car and still can take abuse and mine rides like an f250.

Check the tires, maybe one has P rated tires and the other LT tires.

Mine are bilstein. And as for riding like an F250, are you sure? My buddy has a F250 FX4 with a v10...and that thing is ROUGH. Even a speed bump jars the crap out of you.

Are they labelled Bilstein? I have an '04 FX4 and the shocks are just black, no label that I can find. But maybe they upgraded the stock FX4 shocks since '04.

FX4 shocks are not Bilsteins unless that changed for 2007s which I haven't seen anything. Ford would be advertising that if that is the case. The FX4 shocks do have a stiffer valving though .. I'd like to see some pictures of these Bilsteins though.

Nope - still generic black, on my '06 LOL!

Unless some philanthropic Dealer put Bilstien's on while on the lot

Not fekkin' likely.
