Somebody mentioned something about the FX4 being higher or something?
I cant remember where I heard this, I think it was on a tv show, but word on the streets was that the FX4 is an inch higher than the others, suspension wise.
Not sure. Just here say.

I have also heard that. Not sure where it came from. Maybe because its an "off road" package ? But its not true. Often the factory put slightly larger tires on the FX4 vs. factory, so thats where someone coulda got the height difference from.

Since they are metal, probably 1/8" by the looks of them, I would say a little better than plastic. Just wanted to clear that technicality up. If someone was thinking of ordering skid plates as an option and saw your post saying they were plastic that's a bit misleading. IMO.
I gotcha. Good point. To be honest, it wouldn't matter plastic or tin to me, they offer the same protection. I would never, ever suggest paying more then $20 for them. If you need skid protection, you need more then what they offer. It would be cheaper, can look nicer, and offer far more proection for your $40k truck to just make some of your own. To each his own though. If your truck needs them, only YOU would know. My truck was dragging a little in places I would go, so i lifted it to clear. Felt that was better for me. Do what YOU have to. Not what I suggest.

After reading thru this thread, there are a few things that are misunderstood.

Flow thru consoles are not standard in an FX4. See pic, of my old 05 red FX4 scab

Leather is not standard.
3.73LS is not standard, my 07 came with 3.55LS. LS is standard, the gear ratio is selectable.

Also, a buddy at work has a 08 XLT scab 4x4 with the XLT chrome package and has the 18" chrome wheels with the 275-65-18 BFG's and his truck sits the same height as mine did before I lowered it, and we even had them parked next to each other to compare.

Something about the 4x4 suspension is longer. If you put a 4x4 coilover setup on your 2wd, it'll lift it up a little bit. I'm just trying to figure out if it's a difference in the coil itself, or a difference in the strut.

I looked high and low for a loaded one of those before I bought mine. Didn't have much luck. I was told that with the FX4, the bench seat was an (Opt-out) kind of thing, if that makes any sense.
