6" lift install = Trans. Gear searching ??

Ok now that my lift is in, it NOW seems as if the transmission is searching for a gear while on the highway at different mph speeds of traveling. Whats up with this, is this a normal draw back for adding a suspension lift. I have a 5.4 ltr with 373 gears.

Whats the fix, will a programmer do it or is there something else thats needed to be done that I was not aware of??

If a programmer will correct this which one is best, and more so idiot proof !!

X-cal2 will solve all your problems and give you a little more h.p. Might want to think about an intake and exhaust while your at it if money allows.

you need to regear to around 4.56 to get the tranny back in the correct RPM range it was made for, this will fix your problem

Even better

I'd still look into a programmer.

Yep, both would be ideal. Also, the problem is not the lift, it's the 35 inch tall tires.

That's strange then. You may have something mechanically wrong. I've had coilpacks go bad and never throw a trouble code or cause the check engine light to come on. Once, when two were bad, the truck would "shudder" at the slightest uphill grade like the tranny was going out.
By the way, sweet truck!

Does a programmer affect the shift points based on tire size? I thought all it would do was correct the speedo and odometer.

Yes, it will also correct shift points. Some even allow you to adjust the shift points (when and firmness).

The programer will help with the power and help the tranny a little and fix the spedo but the tranny is ment to shift at a certin rpm at a certin speed with stock tires. But the gears with have the truck opperating almost like the stock tires where on there and bring some mpg and some spunk back in the truck.

How did you fit the 35's with no lift?
