33's vs 35's on a 2wd

Why are the 2wd's limited to 33" tires and the 4wd's can go 35 with a levelling kit?

Is it because the 2wd is not blocked in the back, or do the 2wd's have a shorter strut than the 4wd?

When they are stock, the ride height is similar, save for the stinkbug back end of the blocked 4x4, and the 4x's taller, stock tires

THe 4x4's sit about 2 inches taller front and rear than the 4x2's. As you said, the 4x4's have a 2 inch lift block in the rear. I believe the front coilover shock is 2 inches longer also on the 4x4's.

Wandell, is this just on the 04-07 models? What about the '97-'03 models? The '97-'03 4x2's do not have torsion bars in the front, correct? Do the older body styles still sit 2'' lower in both front and back as well?

Right, the 97-03 4x4's sit about 3 inches taller than the 4x2's.
