If you have a 4x4, you don't need a leveling kit because your front ride height is adjustable via the torsion bar preload. If you have a 4x2, Daystar makes coilspring spacers for your truck.

wandell (or anyone else), Would there be a big difference between a 1.5" Daystar leveling kit and a 2" Trailmaster Leveling kit? Also, does anyone have a picture of either on a 97-03 4x2?

personal preference but id go daystar. heard only bad things about trailDISASTER suspension products. your coils may have started sagging a little.

Would 285's fit as well with the 1.5" as with the 2" kit?

I am having the daystar put on my truck along with spindles, I should be getting my truck back tomorrow (had to wait for shocks to get in) but I will let you know how it goes. If you needs pics let me know. And 285's should fit with both if I remember what wandell told me correctly.

Yeah, 285's should fit easily depending on wheels. I'd use 16x8's.

4x4's don't need leveling kits??

So, I can just crank up the preload if I have a 4x4?? I see where the screw are.........Can you explain....Can I just screw the bolt one way or the other to level the truck??? I thought the aftermarket leveling kits were someow made differently???? Please help!! Thanks!!

Right. Tighten each bolt an equal number of turns to raise the front of the truck. You will need an alignment afterwards. The aftermarket torsion bar keys do the same thing. They just allow you to put even more preload on your torsion bars.
