Question What kind of backspacing?

I have decided to put a 2in leveling kit on my 2006 supcrew fx4. I want to go with aftermarket wheels, and 35's. What size wheels do i need.(lug puttern, back spacing, offset) I really dont know what kind of tires i want to go with. I used to have bfg muds, and i liked them but they are expensive. THANKS for the help.

I believe that you need to stick with 33's with aftermarket wheels or 35's with the stock wheels. I think what you are wanting to do will rub really bad with only a leveling kit.

I agree. As a general rule with a leveling kit on a 4x4 you can run 35x12.50's with the OEM wheels or 33's with aftermarket wheels. You see, wheel width and backspacing are as important to fitment as tire size and lift height.

Your factory wheels should be 7.5" wide with 5.5" of backspacing. Backspacing is measured from the back edge of the wheel to the mounting surface on the wheel where it meets the hub. Aftermarket wheels are 9"+ with something between 4 - 5.5" inches of backspacing. The less the backspacing the more it pushes the wheel out of the wheel well.

A 9" wheel with 4.5" of BS would add 2.5" of tire sticking out beyond factory (9" - 7.5" = 1.5" wider wheel) plus one inch (5.5BS - 4.5BS = 1") plus any additional width from the wider tires.

To simulate the potential for rubbing, I took a 2.5" PVC pipe, cut it to 35", centered it on the outside edge of my tires and turned them. That extra 2.5" was eating up my wheel well, an obviously bad scenario if I would have put wheels on that pushed tires out 2.5" at 35" diameter.

Should i go with the 2in or the 2.5in. I seen on here a couple of times that there is a offset design. Is that one better or what. Where can i buy this leveling kit from.

if you stick with the factory wheels and go with 35's you will rub at full lock but it should be minimal. Not really worth worrying about. I'd go with the 2.5 if you are gonna run the 35's. All the new autospring leveling kits are offset design now so get one of those.

I'm running 35" BFG Mud Terrains on OEM wheels and I get the slightest rub on full radius turns with a 2.5" AS.

They built it where the mounting points are offset slightly to keep the coilsprings from rubbing the control arms which happens occasionaly with other kits.
