truck looks great
i had a rancho lift on my 01 screw & beat the crap out of it & never had any problems.

but im also curious about the front track width & bob & i have discussed it before but now we can get the facts & see if its just a gm thing or deals with all trucks with a rancho lift.
but i dont remember my front track width increasing on my 01 screw so my guess is that its a gm related issue
anyways truck looks excellant & cant wait to see it with 35s
have a great day
sean

Muddyape, Congrats on the lift, looks great! WOW-8 hours, I guess having a lift makes all the difference. So, did you run into any of the issues I emailed you? I measured mine too before with my leveling kit installed, with 35" tires and the lift I got a total of 4" inches. It rides completly level and sits right at 44" at the top of the wheel well.

As far as the track width have a look at the pic below. The front tires stick out a good inch maybe more past the rears. If you look right down the side you will notice it, it is not easy to hide. The only way I see to hide it is with the proper backpspacing or running your OEM rims. I looked at members trucks that are running the same tire on OEM rims and it is all tucked in the fender well-my rims/tires stick out at least 2 inches. Nothing I can't live with-it is a compromise between the lift, tires and rims.

I did put the sway bar brackets in the way you suggested...too tight otherwise, actually impossible. I didnt have a prob with the holes for the brakelines and my instructions suggested the cut be 1/2" away from the slot so no real issues. But did give me points to pay special attention too, so thanks. I will be running factory wheels so i'm hoping they're close to being tucked in. Going for an alignment later today...will be much happier when it's dialed in. thanks for the compliments.

Muddyape, Make sure when you get it aligned that they run all the cam bolts tight and flush-there should be no thread showing at all. I had to go back three times because the guy could not get them tight enough (222flbs) and it kept popping out of line. It is really hard to get an impact in there because the half shaft blocks the bolt-even a swivel barely fits. I finally marked the cams while it was in line and went home and did it myself. It took a break bar, red loctite and my REALLY big neighbor to crank them tight! Me, I was hanging of the wrench so the cams did not move.

Just got back from the shop and it feels like it drives better than it ever did. As far as loosing adjustment, i marked the locations of the cams (not all in the same location) and will monitor them periodically. The alignment shop is across the street from my work so if I need to its easy enough. Besides the shop I go to has been doing my work since I cant remember, if there's one guy I trust with my truck its him. As far a wheel track being widened, I dont think so I cant see any difference from before the lift was on.

I agree, as far as the lift height went...I read several posts saying its "this" or "that" for actual height but no one ever measured it seems. I was taking the tires of and stopped to make sure I got one because if I had to know. Glad I did. I must admit with just 4" of lift the truck got big, another 1 1/2" from the 35's and i'll be happy. It makes me appreciate the 6" and 8" lifts with 37's....must be monsters.

This is the same way my good friends 2005/6 GMC Seiera(sp) looks. You are right though you'll never notice it unless you look right down the side of the vehicle. My friends tires are a little wider so his is a little more pronounced. I do not understand why Rancho lifts increase the tracking width of the front tires. Although I'm sure it is not an issue, I am just curious. My friend thrashes the crap out of his truck. He's had NO suspension failures only a GM transmission problem.

I am also glad to hear that both yourself and Muddyape came to the same conclusion on the lift height of 4". That resolved that issue. Your truck sure looks nice. I agree about the guys running those 6-8" lifts. They must feel like they are driving monster trucks, I have a much better appreciation for those big lifts now.. Excellent job to both you guys and thanks for the information... BoB
