stackin blocks or 4"??

I have a 2" block that came with my fabtech lift and need around 2 more inches in the back...should i get a new 4" block (like $80) or can i just get a stock 4x4 block (2" at $30) and stack it on top of the 2" i have to get the 4??? i know its possible, but is it a bad idea, and then where can i get the new longer ubolts? Thank you all in advance!

Stacking blocks is not a good idea, IMO... You have a nice truck, get the 4" block and do it right...

I have been told that is not really a problem to stack blocks as long as it's not more than 2. I stacked 3" blocks on top of my stock 2" ones and have had no problems at all. If you're going to go that way just make sure to retighten the u-bolts after about 200 miles since driving causes the blocks and leaf springs to seat themselves a lot tighter. You don't want them falling out while driving lol. After that I would recommend checking them every 1000 miles or so just to be safe. I agree that it is probably a better idea to go with the 4" blocks, but if money is an issue I wouldn't be too worried about stacking them. I got longer u-bolts at a truck modification shop for around $12 a piece.

add a add a leaf 2.5-3in of lift on top your block lessens body roll and add payload rating

His signature states he already has a Skyjacker AAL. I agree that if possible the Single 4" block would be the way to go... But if ALLRsdUp has his stacked with no problems and other forum members have done this as well with no problems, It appears "Stacking of Blocks" is a routine solution for solving this issue... BoB

IIRC, stacking blocks is against the law in most states. (Michigan for sure) I believe it also violates one of the federal motor vehicle safety standards.

I have two proposed solutions: One is the larger block. The other would be re-arched leaf springs. Any good spring shop can either re-arch the ones you have, add a leaf or two, or both.
