Leveling Kit ?s
Thanks for shining some light on a newby. I want to know more about the leveling kits. Something that will bring the front up where it should be. The possitives are clear, but what are the negitives?
1) cost what does the entire thing cost? Including any extra items needs, (i.e shocks)
2) wear and tear? Anything to be aware of
3) alignment issues. Would it be nessasry to re-align your truck
4) what kind is the best quaility and best fit.

you obivously haven't searched
but:
1) assuming you go with the AutoSpring kit- $120ish, 1 hr avg. install labor ($60-100), alignment ($40-60)
2)you risk wearing your upper control arm ball joints out due to the increased angles
3)yes, realign the truck as soon as possible after installation
4)the easiest is the Autospring as no spring compression is needed, but others include Daystar, ReadyLift...and a handful of others

Have had my AS 2.5" on for about two weeks. No problems at all. Rides and handles like it did before. Paid $83 total for parts from www.autospringcorp.com via eBay. $100 in labor and $60 for alignment (haven't done that yet as my new wheels and tires are being delivered tomorrow, thought I'd wait for everything to be done first.)

Went with the 2" Autospring ($100), installed myself. Allignment ($70). Also, just added 265/70/17 General Grabber AT's ($450). When it was all said and done, it was cheaper than simply replacing the original Michelins.

I'll try to help out. Cost, you could get the Autospring for $100 shipped to your door. Another goood spacer/leveling kit would be the Daystar, its a good kit but requires you to dis-assemble the coilover. I had it on my 2004 F-150. Now wear and tear, depends. What are you going to use your truck for? I offroaded my 2004 and after 20,000 miles my upper ball joints were ruined. Replacing upper ball joints requires you to replace the whole upper control arm. Alignment, yes you definatly need to get it done after the install. I'd say Autospring and Daystar are among the most popular spacer/leveling kits.

Hey buddy I just figured out how to set up my account and was wonderin the same thing. your questions answered mine. i just bought a 2.5 leveling kit but I think im going to have to add a leaf or block in the back to bring the back up just a pinch because sometimes i haul some heavy loads, the last thing i want to do is ride higher in the front. oh if anybody could tell me how to get a picture up that w3ould be great. thanks 04 FX4
Just installed my 2" AS this weekend. Took me 2 hours to do the right and 1 to do the left.
I like the look, the angle on the balljoint is not as bad as I would expect.
It took me 2 hours for the first one cause I had to run around looking for a 30mm "deep" socket. Argghh
