3" inch body lift - how hard is it??

After reading all the negative stuff about the leveling kits, I may just install a 3" Performance body lift instead and stay away from messing with the stock suspension components. I want to install the lift myself, and I'm wondering just how hard and time consuming it's going to be? Is this somthing that you could do by yourself? What sorts of tools should I make sure I have on hand, etc. Thanks for any help..

You will need an asortment of basic handtools. I've installed 4, but never on an 04-07 F-150. You will also need someone to help when you actually lift the body.

I paid 1200 for everything which included PA 3 inch Body Lift, PA Gap Guards, and 2 inch Leveling Kit. So far, drove 5k mile and don't have anything negative to say about it. Drives like stock...rarely I drive a day without someone complimenting on it. IF your looking to save a couple thousand than this set-up is a great option. In my opinion...trucks looks and feels great...and I would do it all over again.

FYI...PA 3 inch Body Lift Kit for 2006 model isn't out yet. Talked to PA and expects the kit to be out within a couple months. I had installed 2004-2005 kit and had Fabricator make rear bumper brackets (only modification). I have the template if you decide to install.

Good Luck!

WRK4GAS, thanks for the help. I like the height and stance of your truck -- it looks sweet. I'm installing the leveling kit this weekend, and hopefully I'll be able to do the body lift in a few weeks. I hope to do this myself, I don't mind it being time-consuming if it's going to save me money by not having someone else do it...

Late model Fords don't show a lot of frame and what little there is showing is easily covered up with nerf bars, steps, etc.

THANKS for the compliments! Again, wandell is right on it...nerf bars are a must...w/o them, you definitely see the framework and apparent body lift.

gap guards help for the wheel wells, but they dont do anything for the rest of the truck (like under the doors...hence the talk about using nerf bars to block the frame).
