ok i think i got it on how to raise the tortion bars, but how high can you raise it with the bars and also will i have to raise the rear of the truck as well, i just noticed tonight that my drivers front tire is way out on the bottom or way in on the top, any ideas on what that could be?

I would just crank the bars up enough to level the truck. As for your tire's weird angle, it could be as simple as the alaignment being off (way, way off) or it could be a worn suspension component (probably ball joints).

So i read this post. Went out to the truck looked into it. I had about 2 full turns on each bolt (thats all the way tighten down) I notice about 3/4 of an inch in the raise but its still not "Level" I'm thinking I'm going to have to put a leveing kit on this thing. Also I'm going to putting a 3inch body lift on my truck. Could i put 35 on that or is this way to big?

Yell dont put a leveling kit on it. Just use your stock torsion bar adjustment keys. Its hard to believe that you didnt get more lift from it. I got 2" from mine.

But with a 4x4 you can fit 35's with just the torion bars cranked all the way.

Add a body lift and 35's will fit NICELY. I crammed 36's under mine but i dont recommend this if you dont plan to lift higher in the future.

and you might want to open a new thread for this

i read through it trying to figure out why this post was resurrected.

after turning the t-bars take a ride around the block and then measure the amount of lift. you will notice it has gone up.

how will the ride differ after cranking up the bars to make it level? is it worth doing? would the ride stay the same as stock with a leveling kit? i just picked up my truck the other day, the guy at the shop said not to do this? just wondering it what he was saying is true or not. thanks for the help.

The affect on ride quality will be the same with a leveling kit and cranking up the torsion barswith the oem adjustment keys. Both increase torsion bar preload. One just cost a lot more. When you increase the torsion bar preload, it makes the initial portion of the front suspension's travel slightly stiffer. Some people hate this, some love it.

i just cranked them up at 11pm i was bored, then i took it for a long ride it settled a bit so i have to adjust them another 1/2 inch and im done i have a tad more then a 1/4 thread left to turn, and i actuall like the ride its firmer but not bone jaring and the truck seems to handle a wee bit better cuse of less roll. ill finish it tommmrow and get a aligment. thanks for all the help guys. how do you post pics in this fourm i never have done it yet.

The Torsion adjustment bolts hardly are ever cranked even on each side.

And who ever did your alignment is a complete idiot, The alignment specs can be reached even after cranking your torsion bars all the way.

The only other reason the alignment couldnt be reached is do to some other problem in the suspension, check the swaybar end links, ball joints...
