Time To Lift...
I finally have the money to lift my Truck. I want to clear 35's so I know I need at least 6" of lift. I dont really wheel, it will be on the road for the most part. I hear pro's and con's on different lift kits whether it's this brand or that combination. I have read A LOT of posts on it all. I have a 2005 xlt supercrew with the 4.6 and my biggest concern is I dont want to spend all this money for the truck to fall apart on me, ie: tranny, motor, or 4x4. Am I adding that much more stress to the truck by lifting it? I know this topic has been beat to death but I dont want to spend all that money and wind up kicking myself in the *** in the end. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I am going to be driving to my duty station in a couple months (CT to TX) and the last thing I want is for my "new" truck to breakdown on the way and then have ford turn around and tell me it was my fault and stick me with the bill.
6" procomp
I am running the 6" procomp with 35". Everything is fine. You will hear a lot of good and bad about it but a lot of people are running procomp.

I have heard and read great things about ProComp, Fabtech, and Skyjacker. They are all great suspension lift kits. I guess it really comes down to price, and what you actually end up putting on.
As far as I know you are for sure going to put alot more stress on the truck. Especially on the engine and transmission. Ford trucks are great quality so I personally do not think you will have problems until the truck gets older.
Also, from what I have read, if you are going to be running 35's on the 4.6 liter you may have to have your transmission regeared to get the truck moving a little better when you are at a dead stop.

On the new body style F150 4x4s all you really need to clear 35's with stock wheels is a leveling kit.
I suggest getting a leveling kit, and then you can add a body lift, and you should be able to clear 35"s with just about any wheel.

body lift Vs Suspension lift
if you really want to do some serious off-road, the body lift is not going to cut it. It does not give you additional clearance. That is the point of the suspension lift.

Body lifts are ok but I would opt for a suspension lift if $$ will allow. I have had them in the past and they never looked right in my opinion. Too much frame sticking out.
I have a 4 inch rancho system that allows for 35x12.50s. I have 35x13.00s and still have a decent amount of room.

Bodylift cons: Not an engineered solution, diminishes integrity of body, usually just for looks.
Suspension lift pros: Engineered solution, increases vehicle performance (wheel travel/ground clearance).
Suspension lift cons: Expensive, harder to take back off.
Good luck. You could try a bodylift and if you dont like it you can take it off and be out less money.
My rancho 4 inch rides better ON and OFF road. Fabtech, Rancho, RCD all great kits. The RCD is $$$ galore though.

Does the level kit on a 4x4 clear 35s? Cause on a 2x4 it will only clear 33s.

With aftermarket wheels, you may run into some clearance issues depending on the width of the wheels, tires, as well as the backspacing.
