How to get 3" lift on 4x2, easy and cheap.

Ha !! Finally figured it out today after experimenting with different combinations. You can easily get 3" AND no rubbing of the coils by simply installing the 4x4 coilovers on the 4x2. That is it, nothing else. Before the install, the measurement from the lip to the floor was 34", now it is sitting a 37 1/2", but you have to remove 1/2" because I also installed 285/60-18 tires. You can then install a 2" block in the rear and voila!!! Instand 4x4 look without the spacer.

You also have the advantage of have a slightly stiffer ride. Don't forget to also install the 4x4 rear shock if you install the block.

Initially I installed the 4x4 shock AND the spacer, that gave me a 5" lift and it looked great, but I could not get it to align, that was why I removed the spacer to see what would happen. Now I look at the ball joint and feel comfortable with the angle.

Sorry no pics, camers is busted and still have not had the time to replace it.

If I add a coilover from a 4X4 and put it on my 4X2, are you saying I will not be able to use a 2-2.5"" leveling kit along with it. What about the 1 5/8" ??? I would love to do this and add the OE 2" block to the rearwith an add-a-leaf on my 05!

Yamon are you saying you installed a stock 4x4 shock 2005 f150 on a 2wd f150. Explain cause I'm interested. How much of a lift does a 4x4 stock shock lift on the 2wd. Can I just purchase the stock 4x4 shock and install the 2wd coils and mount cap on it. I thought the stock 4x4 shock only lifts about a 1/2".

You need the shock AND the coilspring.

Sounds to me like a leveling kit would be a lot cheaper.

It would be a shock, not a strut. And it wouldnt work, you have to have both the coil AND the shock.
