Question on 6" Fabtech Lift...

I think I have decided to go with the 6" Fabtech suspension lift, but it says on multiple websites that it is only for an AUTOMATIC transmission. What's the deal with this? Does Fabtech not make a 6" lift for standard transmissions or will this kit work? (The fabtech official site mentions nothing about transmissions.)

Thanks again!

i just spoke to a Fabtech representative and he informed me that the 6" Fabtech kit will not work on any standard cab 97-03 F150, whether it be automatic or manual.

Now, I don't know what I'm going to do. I think my options are either the skyjacker 6", superlift 5", CST 7.5"?, or Rancho 4".

I would like to fit 36x12.5 tires, but I guess I would settle for 35x12.5, so what should I buy??

reply to lift options and tires

you can run 36" tires on a 4-6" susp lift just crank you torsion bars and put 2" blocks in the back then u will have 6-8" lift and yes fabtech lift does work on stand trannys with no mods. but your right i dont think it will work on std cabs

two reps from Fabtech told me that the drop bracket for the torsion bar (i think that's what it was) that comes with the 6" kit doesn't work on std. cabs because there is a frame rail in the way.

So, you're saying it will work??

im tellin you my dads got a 01 f150 standard cab, short bed, standard tranny, 4.2 v6 and we put a 6" fabtech on it.

yes it will work. 1 thing u have to do in cut down the support? bars that run back to the crossmember. run parallel with the torsion bars. we cut those down and welded them up.

When you say "cut down" do you mean "trim"?? How hard was that??

Secondly, does he have just the fabtech lift on it, or does he have body lift or torsion bars cranked? I ask this because I want to know what size tires he can fit.

Thanks alot.

You can fit 36's with the 4'' Rancho. I've seen it done. 36x12.50 TSL's.

By cut them I mean we took about 2" out of them and welded them back together. But thats just because his truck is a short wheel base. Ive got an 00 Extended cab and didnt have to cut them down.

As to what tire size, hes running 37x 13.50s with 6" Fabtech and 3" body lift.
Ive got 35's with 6" Fabtech and 2" ProComp add a leafs with a torsion crank.
I'm about to squeeze 38s on mine though, might have to add a body lift but not sure yet. But 35s fit with no problem with the fabtech lift itself so long as you get the correct backspacing. You could probably get 36's with the correct tire wheel combo.
