Any Experience with Pro Comp on a 2WD?

Im looking to replacing my fabtech ultimate 7 inch lift with the pro comp 6 inch lift because this kit is giving me many problems. Oh yeah, i got an 03 reg cab, V6. The fabtech kit is way harsh and wearing out parts fast. Ive got about .25 inches of down travel on either side in the front and it sucks.Just seeing if anyone had any experience with the pro comp 6 inch kit for 97-03 2WD F-150's. Any help is appreciated.

Me too. Who installed your lift? Are you sure it was installed correctly?

******** custom trucks installed the lift and it was installed correctly. As I have learned more about trucks, this fabtech lift is a primative way to lift a truck in my opinion. I think the only way these lifts work really well is when they have coil overs, uniballs, and heim joints. Ive checked out the suspension and two other shops have. The ride is horrible. I really hate having to creep over speed bumbs just like the ricers. For me, I'm looking more for comfort and not offroad abilities. Hell, I'd be scared to break something offroad with the current setup. I really dont see why so many people hate pro comp. I know this doesnt really apply, but my buddy has got a 2wd silverado with the pro comp 7 inch kit and it rides like my dad's 04 F-150.
Stock lower ball joints when out with a total of 9,000 miles on them. 4,000 of those miles the lift kit was on. I'd be happy if I had more droop travel and a softer ride, but I dont want to shell out 600$ for custom wound springs that I would have to design. I'd rather buy the pro comp kit for 900 bucks brand new and sell my fabtech lift for 500-600 bucks. I can see this kit working great on a extended cab v6, or any regular cab with a v8. I soo wish the fabtech 7.5 crossmember kit would work on my truck, but it doesnt. For me and my application, fabtech is not the way to go. I look at the parts of my current kit and the new kit, they dont compare, the pro comp is better IMO. The fabtech kit doesnt even have a bump stop modification for the rear. Also, the instalation instructions for the pro comp kit are soooo much better. Instead of saying remove the rotor and reassemble to lift spindle, the pro copm kit goes into detail and shows a diagram of the bearing and everything.

Well I got the pro comp 6" installed on my 03 f150 and got rid of the fabtech. So far I have only done the front as it seems that the rear works just fine. The truck rides SOOO much better. The ride is sooo much more stock like in softness. While I did the lift I put new lower ball joints, stock upper a-arms with balljoints that had 5K on them, inner tie rods, outer tie rods, and a new idler arm. The truck turns alot easier for some reason. Too bad I got the rotors mixed up with the bearings and the bearing went in the wrong races. So i gotta put in new bearings...YEY! But good thing the 4 bearings cost 40 bucks.

In my own opinion I dont like fabtech or superlift. If you want something that will out last any other system try http://offroaddirectory.net/prerunner.htm. Click on some of those companys or even try http://prerunners.net/home/. Both sites have some of the best companys out there for 4wd and 2wd lifts. Those systems will put any fabtech or superlift system to shame.
