JonC,
Not speaking for dirtslinger, but I had to trim my front valance as well. Sorry no pics yet.
I took a piece of cardboard, cut it to the shape I wanted the valance to look like. Then used a black marker to trace the new shape, on both sides. This will keep the drivers and passenger sides looking alike.

I used my belt sander ( VERY carefully ), and shaped the valance to the black line. Used a Makita hand sander to debur and smooth the edges.
It turned out great, even got a few compliments from the guys at work. Again, sorry no pics yet. Good luck with yours.

JonC-

Do you have any pictures of a 6.5 in with 285/75/16s?....Overall how much did your tires get kicked out, and how much just from the spindle lift?

Woody,

Thanks for the reply! I would never have thought of the belt sander... Makes perfect sense to me. I'm only needing to trim it slightly. Did you remove the valance before trimming or were you able to do it on the truck. If you removed it, how did you do it? I'm guessing it should just pop off pretty easily, but I've though that before only to end up breaking things.

Thanks again.

No, I left the valance on. Turned the wheel to the right to do the drivers side, left on the passenger side.
The valance can start to shake, so don't apply too much preasure. I sanded up and down ( with the grain, if you will), for better control. The Makita takes, pretty much, all the scratches off, leaving a close to factory look.
PS. I almost forgot. The L shaped piece on the inside required some trimmimg. After sanding there was some thin material remaining. Used a good set of scissors to trim.
Total time was about 30 mins.
