Cool Rancho or Fabtech?

I'm getting my F-150 XLT SS extended cab 4x2 this weekend, but I was wondering which suspension kit would be better for my truck? I'm planning on gettin a 4 to 6 inch lift. Also, does anyone have any pics of their F-150 with a 4 to 6 inch lift -- Please show . Any response would be appreciated.

I got the fabtech for two reasons, first - cheaper... second fabtech has been makeing the kits for a lot longer, rancho had just come out. I have the 3.5" lift which includes new upper a arm and new coils. I also have a 3" body lift. I added 35" mickey thompson tires on the stock rims. Here is some pics. Hope this helps!

This is a pic of me infront of a stock hight 4x2 see the difference in the rake and hight of the bumpers... Also check out how much more room there is above my tires even with the 35s

Hey your pics look great!!! If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your set up? I new at this so that would give a total of 6.5 inch lift, right? I would get the same result if I added Fabtech's 6.5" ultimate suspension system with 35" tires? Are you familiar wtih this particular lift kit? By the way, how did you insert your pics? Thanks in advance!

Right now you can get the fabtech 6.5in lift kit for 1600 dollars installed under four wheel parts october deals. They also will install the rancho 4 inch lift kit for 1400 dollars. And during this time they also got wheel/tire combos for cheap...like buy 4 get 5 free. The body lifts installed cost about 400 bucks. To get 35s you need 6.5 inch fabtech or 4 inch rancho with 3 inch bod...by i hear the rancho rides extremely well.

Cool

Woolfpak,

You're right... if you go with Fabtech 3.5 lift and add the 3 inch spindles it's the same as their 6.5" Ultimate lift kit. If you've got the $$, do it all at the same time. I did the 3.5" Control arm / springs lift ($1200 installed) and am having the spindles installed as we speak (another $750). Makes it a couple hundred dollars more expensive that way, because I've essentially wasted the rear end lift from the first project (Fabtech performance shock, 2" blocks and U-bolts... anybody want a good deal on this 2 month old setup?) and I'm also paying for some of the labor twice! Oh well, live and learn!

I hope to post some pics this weekend when it's done.

JonC-

Are you going to be keeping the 285/75's with that setup...if so send me/post some pics cause i have been thinking about doing a 3 inch spindle on top of the body lift, but have been reluctant because of teh 285's.

just so ya all know... If you get the fabtech spindles before December, there is a $75 rebate. Send them your upc code from the box and proof of purchase, and they will send you $75! Check out there website for more info if you want, http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com I wish I had the cash to add the spindles, I really want that extra 3" so I will have 9.5" of lift! oh well... Also I paid around $800 for the 3.5" lift, but I could have gotten it cheaper on the internet. But I had to get it fast so I had to get it at a local dealer, also I came with a lifetime warrenty from the store, so if a part breaks I go there and they give me a new one! I don't have to bother with sending it out and getting it replaced. The lift was very easy to install. The hardest part was droping the lower control arm. I finished it under 2 hours...

Cool

Ilmagill,

Nice pics, nice truck! Yup, keeping the 285's (for now)... I'm picking the truck up this afternoon so if the weather holds I'll try to get some pics posted tomorrow.

BTW... how do you like those Westin step-bars? I've been looking at those for a while. How do they mount, frame or body panels? Sturdy?

Thanks!

Woolfpak,
I know this is a Supercrew, but you can get an idea of how a 6 1/2 ultimate system will look.
ilmagill is correct, 4 wheel parts in Santa Ana is having the sale. Here's the address; 809 s. Grand Ave. S.A. 92705.
I took my truck up to Aggressive Suspensions (Fabtech) in Fullerton. 4 Wheel Parts is much closer, to your Irvine location.

Yeah, its a nation wide sale. The westins are mounted onto the rocker panels...they are pretty sturdy...cause they also have some arms that mount to the body to give extended strength...the install was about 30 minutes for both sides....took me 45, monted the wrong sides...make sure you have 2 1/4" combonation wrenches cause its much quicker.

Woody...Thanks for contributing your pics, your F-150 looks great. I can't wait to get mine. The 6.5 inch lift is what I am looking for, but I wanted to get an idea fo how it would look before I changed anything.
Thanks for the address as well. And, I hope to post some pics when I get my stuff together

Question

Dirtslinger,

Really like the truck!! How did you go about trimming the front valance? Looks like a really neat job, and that's what I want on mine. Got the 3" spindles (Fabtech) done this weekend, which kicked the front wheels out slightly and now my 285's just barely scrape the valance when I crank the wheel hard. Small price to pay, I really like the improvement... even with the 285's on.

Hoping to update pics today.
