Okay, heres the story: A dana 44 IFS, the right side turns and everything is fine, the left side, when turning the wheel, you can stop the driveshaft with your hand. would this be the cause of a broken spider. What do you think?

What is it on? Are you hearing anything while driving? If the gears inside of the diferential were wasted you would definately being hearing something. It sounds like you have an open diferential up front (most stock 4x4's do.) This is normal, assuming your not hearing anything upfront and are not having any driveability problems.
