Talking Rear Sway bar!!!!!!

Just got back from installing the rear sway bar with a friend of mine. Was a bit tricky figuring out how to mount it, but we got it done. I still need shorter end links, but will work as it is now for the time being. However, I can deffinatly hear it when I stop or much articulation occurs. Will some WD-40 being sprayed in the D bushings help any? or will I need to put some of the polyerethane grease in them like I did on the front? I'll get pics in the next few days.

No zerks huh? I would grease it like the front..The Hotchkis has zerks making it easier...Maybe you could drill holes in the D bushing holders and thread in some zerks..

Angry Rear Sway Bar Install

I have the Hellwig rear sway bar kit. The bar goes over the differential housing and I can not get it installed even raising the vehicle 6" off the ground.
Is it me or is a lift required?
The Hellwig front sway bar install was no problem...

I have the same rear bar on my truck. I'd suggest the following process, which worked for me.

1) Place a floor jack under the receiver hitch and jack the truck up as much as you can.

2) Start from in front of the rear axle. Angle the bar sideways, and working from the drivers side of the driveshaft, slowly work the passenger endlink connection over the driveshaft until you work the swaybar around and onto the top of the pinion. It takes a little finagling but it will go. Make sure to take care not to damage the pinion sensor lead (top/front on the pumpkin).

3) When you get the swaybar in place over the pinion, lower the floor jack and complete the installation per the Hellwig instructions.

Hope this information helps.

Just for you Big Deal.

and below are some of the pics. Its not wut I was totally wanting, but some work it will be ideal. I'm going to have it powder coated blue for $30 then get some adjustable end links from So-Cal speed shop. But the handling is so much better. I'll get some better pics when its all cleaned up.

Is that the Hellwig bar you have installed or another brand? Isn't it suppose to go on top of the pumpkin? It seems to be hanging somewhat low.

Ya, I'll send you the original picture. I just used photo-shop for the rest of the picture.

andreir, its a STEEDA rear sway bar, and yes it goes below the pumpkin. When I get shorter end links, it will not hand as low. Its kinda sloped downward now bringing it lower than should be.

Big Deal! THANKS!

Thanks for your information!
I'll try it, again, this weekend ...
How high did you lift the receiver?
2x4 or 4x4 shim on the floor jack?

Regards,

Regards,
I think I used a 4x4 on the jack and as I mentioned, I lifted the rearend up as high as it would go (don't try to lift it high enough to get the rear tires off the ground). Good luck.
