suspension lift

I would like to know what suspension lift kits people are running. I want to raise my rig but every time I decide which way to go I read something(usually an ad) that changes my mind. I was originally leaning toward a Trailmaster. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge in this area?

have you installed a body lift? the price of a body lift is certainly more appealing than that of a suspension lift.

First off do NOT get the Trailmaster kit. They use ball joint spacers and that will cause steering and front suspension problems when they start to wear. Take a look at Rancho or Superlift. Those are both good companies and I have had experience with their kits in the past. I had a Rancho kit on a 85 F250 and a Superlift kit on a 93 Bronco. In my opinion I would go with the Superlift 5" kit if I had the money.
I have a body lift on my truck and the price was the deciding factor. I am running 35x12.50's with no rubbing. If you have any questions let me know. Hope this helps.
You can see pictures of my truck with the lift at http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Mesa/9131

thanks for the insight. your truck looks sweet! I have got my heart set on the centerline 33s with the BFG 33 or 35/12.5/16.5 tires. after seeing your pic I REALLY gotta have 'em. I have been looking more closely at the superlift, maybe with edelbrock shocks. how tough was the body lift? you have to rehang the bumpers, right?

The body lift was not that hard to install and you do have to rehang the bumpers. I have gone into detail on the install under the body lift topics. I was not sure how the wheels would look when I ordered them, but I am really happy and I get a lot of comments on how they look. If you are going to get those wheels get them from Summit. They have the best price I could find($186 per wheel) and the shipping is free. I think I called every wholesale place in the 4 wheel drive magazines and Summit had the best price.
I have the edelbrock shocks and if you get tehm you will not be sorry. They are great. Hope this helps.

I do not know if the 97-98 kit will fit or not. Give them a call and they will be able to tell you. You can also look around in some of the 4 wheel drive magazines and get some prices from other mail order companies. When you re-hang the bumpers that means you move them up so they match up with the body after it is lifted. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, just checkin out your talk about suspension lifts. I just ordered a 31/2" suspension lift from fabtech. i have a 4x2 and i will easily clear 33x12.5/16 or 285/75/16. have seen this lift on another f150 and looks great, you can run the 33's. I had a discussion about this with a friend. the 285 is only a 11.5" where the 33 is a 12.5. the 98 f150 has the width clearance i was looking for. do you guys have any info on a leveling kit? i could just put a 2" leveling kit on but i think it would not have the same effect. it is talked about at www.fabtechmotorsports.com . please let me know if you find out any info. when it comes in and when i install it i will let you guys know all the pros/cons. hopefully more pros, haha. hope this helps some of you.
