Anyone have suggestions for Aftermarket Shocks?

I've got an '02 King Ranch Screw with about 26K on it. I have not done anything to the vehicle except drive it, and change the oil every 3K.

I am planning on replacing all 4 shocks in the near future and have seen several different brands/manufacturers. Does anyone have any specific suggestions, or experience with the performance of aftermarket shocks, Bilsteins, Rancho's, Monro's, KYB, etc... They all seem to claim 'high performance'.

Buying and installing them is not an issue, I am just interested in hearing what other folks are using, and how it has impacted the ride/performance of their S'crew.

Thanks!

I have the shocks that came with the BelTech 2" drop kit(not sure if they aree actually made by beltech) they are excellent. My truck, even though it is lowered rides better than stock any day. I hardly feel anything. I think the 22's have something to do with that too. Hard to feel a small pot hole when the tire covers it.

My vote goes to Bilsteins. I do not have them currently, but have used them in the past with great results.

I have the Bilstiens on my truck and love them. They are much stiffer though so if you like a smooth ride then don't get these. If you want your truck to feel like a truck then these are the shocks for you. You should be able to find them for $60-$65 a piece.

Love these new icons........

I used to have Edelbrock IAS performance shocks on my x-cab f-150, and they were fantastic. They cost a little more but were well worth the money. They practicaly eliminated the body roll and felt as smooth as a luxury car down the road. Best investment I ever made in my truck.

If a person were to NOT upgrade all four corners at once, which do you recommend to upgrade first? front or back?

I have the Rancho 9000 shocks on my SuperCrew; because they are adjustable, I can customize my ride to what conditions I'll be driving - 5 for trailering and 1 for smooth highway.

I have never heard of anyone changing just the front or back shocks instead of all of them at the same time.

Just save the money up and then get all 4. But if you really want my opinion on the front or back first (and remember this is an opinion) then get the fronts done first as they will benifit you more in steering and breaking control.

Talking

I recently had the Rancho 9000X shocks and BFG 285/70R/17 AT/KOs put on my 01' 4X4 Screw. There is much less body roll and it just "feels" more like a truck should. The shocks have 9 different settings and I have been very happy with the performance. You can experiment with changing the front and back shocks to get just the feel you like. Right now I'm mostly in town so I've got the front shocks set at 2 and the rear shocks at 4. Good luck with whatever you choose!
