I like mine, have the 9005's also. Sometimes they are to bright, like at a light and the car in front is lit up like the 4th of July. Kind of wish you could turn 'em down a little. Cost me about $105 for all of them.

Are the 9005's for the foglights? or side markers?

I have the SilverStars in the headlights and fogs. The fogs are bright!!!! I mean really bright.

The headlights are bright too, it looks like you have your brights on all the time. I love them!

I have a 4x4 with the front torqued up about 2.5 inches and have not had anyone flash me. So they are bright but don't bother anyone enough to have them flash me. They really make your truck stand out as they almost look like HIDs much brighter than the cool blue.

Also at first I was concerned about the extra Amperage draw but as of yet (about 6 months) I have yet to have any electrical issues and I always run the headlights and fogs at the same time. I did notice that my RPMs are hit a little when the lights first come on so the definatly use up more juice.

I highly recomend them and if you think there too much then re-aim your headlights down a bit.

I paid $25 a piece for them plus shipping so $105 is about right. I got mine at autobarn.com. There going to be about the same price everyone as I checked 4 diffrent places online and no one local had them.

My only regret is that I didn't spend the extra money to get the HIDs but thats quite a bit more, so really I guess no regrets.

Hey guys,

I got some Silver Stars today too, I paid $19.99 each at Auto Zone and they're $21.98 at Advance. Also, I've got a $10 mail-in rebate coupon for each pair. I bought the 9007STs for the heads and the 9005STs for the fogs. So, all in all they ran me about $20 each or $40 per pair, after the rebate, it'll be about $30 per pair. So to do the heads and the fogs will end up costing me $60, not bad at all in my opinion. I also bought 2 of the 9007ST to put in the wife's '01 Taurus. It's not dark here as of now so it won't be long and I can report what a difference they made.

The fogs look considerably brighter even in the daylight so I'm expecting them to really shine at night. The heads seemed just a little bit better in the daylight but I'm hoping that on a dark road it'll be more noticable.

BTW, the 9005STs for the fogs don't exactly fit and I had to kind of force them just a tad. The three locking tabs on the entry side of the bulb unit don't exactly match the bulbs that I took out.

The bulbs called out in the owners manual are 9145 Halogens which are 45 watts each. The 9005STs I installed are a max of 70 watts each which is a (70-45)/45*100% = 55.56% increase in current draw. If the info is correct, the fogs should be drawing I=P/E or I=70/12 or 5.83 amps each where the stock ones should only draw around 45/12 or 3.75 amps.

From what I can determine, stock 9007s would draw approx the same amps but I'm going to do a test and determine for sure just for giggles.

For the money, I don't think anyone can go wrong with the Sylvania Silver Stars.

On the 9005s for the fogs you need to trim the flange off a little, hold the old bulb next to the new bulb and you will see the diffrence. Just take a pair of needle nose plyers and snap the extra flange off the new bulb, then wallla! they fit perfectly!

I'm keeping one of the package cards in the glove box just in case "someone" has any questions about their brightness. Nice lights for the money.

Ditto on the thanks for the heads-up! Took about 10 minutes to install all 4 bulbs... I did have to trim a bit of the fog bulbs to make them an easy fit. The only thing about the rebate is that the fine print says that only $10 rebate per household is allowed. I got two receipts (one for each pair) anyway.

FYI... just because the package says they are legal, does NOT mean they are. Meeting USDOT regulations does not matter. Local jurisdictions and Dept's of Transportation can and often do make their own rules as to brightness.

Are they noticeably brighter than the stock halogens??? I've heard both positive and negative about those bulbs.

Thanks,

Jim
