sorry........... no pictures...........

...........but I just followed along with the posts from the Lightning forum. I used zip tie mounting plates( mounted with very short #6 screws, instead of relying on the peel off tape) to mount on to the back of the box, and wrapped the 14" ties around the vertical bars and pulled tight. I wanted it to look as stock as possible I live in Houston and people's rides get ganked all the time.... so when I noticed the top edge was gapped a little I fab'd up a couple of scrap blocks of 1/2" white pine with the drill and scroll saw, and raised up the fron edge. Now, I do have a 1/2" to 3/4" gap at the bottom front edge of the box........... but hell, you gotta get down on your knees to notice it............ I do have a regular camera, I will take some pics after the "big hurricane" blows through and I can clean my truck up inside and out, and get the pictures developed with the disk, and I will post some pictures. I have done quite a few mods to this truck, and would like to show it off a little.

Ain't it addictive as hell!!!!

I really, really, really want a '01 Harley grill and white emblems!!

Then a new H.U. to power up the pioneer speakers a little..... then wheels............ aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrghhhh!!

We ALL suffer from severe "MOD-itis" Syndrome..........

Dale or anyone,

I just called Crutchfield and they told me that to get the $20 referral discount it has to be over $200.00

Did you all get it under $200.00?

Thanks,

Will

Sub was 149.99...

Sub was 149.99 and subharness was 9.99 but you get 9.99 discount when purchased together...I also odered Infinity Kappa's that put my order over $200...so I got the discount. Shipping was 10.99 but I think some are getting free shipping if you use Discover card.

Question 2002 SCrew FX4 Fit??

Will this thing look good/fit well in the 2002 FX4 (gray interior) with captains chairs and the center console? This sounds exactly like what I am looking for in terms of bass (I don't intend to go all-out with a massive system) and I wanted to know just how good/bad this would look in my truck (I have read about the fit issues in the 02 SCrews). Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you running the power and ground off of the factory wiring for the radio? I have a slight concern that the power consumption on the sub might be a tad much for the factory wiring and it might get hot. Should I run a wire to the battery?

Anybody have any insight on this particular issue?

Also, I'm going to be running RCAs to my Sub because I have RCA outs for a sub on my head unit so, all I'll be using the harness for is a power source (maybe) and a ground.

My sub is ordered. I got free shipping (all I did was ask for free shipping and he gave it to me).

Also, if anyone else is considering this, or anything else from crutchfield, I have a $20 referral code. Email me and I'd be happy to email you the code. It'll save you $20 and it'll credit my account $20 so, it's a win win situation. I'll also make a recommendation on the person to talk to there and I have his extension number. He's SUPER sharp. Just email me and I'll forward that to you...

Also, don't feel like there's a huge hurry to buy one of these puppies. I asked my sales rep how many they had--his response, over 150 units (that was tan) so, I feel pretty comfortable that they'll have a unit for you if you're wanting one.

You can email me by clicking on the link at the bottom of my signature or at : kingranch@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Here are some Pics...

This is the sub after trimming bottom so cup holder will open:

Here is the front of sub with feet on...this keeps sub flush with dash:

The sub will be zip tied to the metal brace:

More Pics...

Top view...I am going to have to extend the black ground you see on the harness and add a larger ring connector to use as a chasis ground:

I trimmed a 5 inch stip about 1/8 to 3/16 thick on the bottom so the cup holders would open:

I put a nylon grommet on insides of back for the zip ties:

I'm running power and ground from factory harness...I have not seen any problems with power loss or dimming HU lights. I am going to have to extend the chasis ground...it is not long enough to bolt to chasis and also reach the back of sub.

Dale!

Hey Buddy,

Thanks for posting those pics.. I will be doing the same tomorrow afternoon when mine arrives. Hopefully I will have all the right parts/harnesses and such and I won't have to wait for a second corrected shipment!

After looking at your pics, I can't wait to get mine installed. It looks awesome and if it sounds half as good as what I have heard, I should be a happy camper this time tomorrow!

So, how hard was it to get the wires fed through and to get that black floor vent cover off? This will be my first attempt at tearing anything apart on the new SCrew. My Bronco was a piece of cake and I could tear that thing up with the best of 'em....

Thanks again for the pics, very nice and it gave me a good mental picture of what to expect and such.

Pretty easy install...

The black vent just snaps off...just grab behind each fastener and pop off...there is two fasteners on the left side and one on the right. There are a couple of different nuts behind the vent that can be used to attach the ground. Wire harness was not too bad.
The hardest part was getting the bezel off the HU, AC vents. I used my fingers only cause I did not want to scratch anything...there are two tabs on the top, two on the bottom, and one to the right...I started by prying up on the bottom right till the right tab popped...then I worked around to the top and continued around to the bottom...I just left the 4x4 selector hooked up and let the bezel dangle. Take the HU out with the removal tools...some folks have used coat hangers...I got the HU tools at auto zone for 3.99. I unpluged the HU and removed completely so it would be out of the way when I fed the wire harness down...I just fed it down through the dash along the same route that the factory harness was...if you open the cup holder and look underneath it you can see the harness dropping down...I reached in under the cup holders and fed it on down to the bottom (black vent area)....no problems at all really...just take your time.

Thumbs up

An easy way to get the HU bezel off is to turn both vents in toward each other, grab the bezel with both hands in the space beside the vents, and pull. It pops right off.

Man...

Is this a great board or what!

Thanks again Dale, you da man.. I would normally be in your shoes telling someone else how/what to do. I know that with the details you gave, it'll take me no time. You've done all the head scratching already!

Knock, Knock....

Well, the FEDEX guy just dropped off my box, literally seconds after I hit "submit reply"... I'll post pics of the install when I am done... This unit looks darker than the interior but I haven't taken it outside to the truck yet. It DOES say F-150 and has the LG on it..

Give me some time - it is pouring outside thanks to TS Fay and my garage is full, so I may take a while or go find a covered area!

Dale, EXCELLENT PICS. Thank you as well. I ordered mine yesterday and will hopefully see it on Wed.

You guys need to let me know about installation and any 'qwarks' that you run into.

Also, for those of you that read my earlier post about crutchfield. I read a little further into the coupon and you do have a minimum purchase requirement of $200 if you want the $20 off so, if you're just out to buy this sub, it's not going to work out. I bought the sub and a set of RCA cables (my HU has a 'sub-out' hookup with RCAs) and it was $158.98.

Also, if and when I redeem the $20 credit that they give me, I have to spend over $200 as well. *shrugs* Doubt I ever will but, none the less, I've got that code if you're a FIRST TIME buyer from Crutchfield and you're going to spend over $200. Just drop me an email and I'll bounce the code out to you.

I've got one, do you want it?

I bought the tan colored sub last month brand new and never used it. It's still in the box with harness and instructions. I want to do the expy console thing so this wont work for me. Any takers.
