Question dual exhaust conversion?

Hi folks,

when i got my 2001 screw, i wasnt aware enough to
ask for a dual exhaust. i am probly not alone in this oversight.

anyone have suggestions for a dual conversion, perhaps from ford so it doesnt invalidate any warranty i may still have?

any other desireable options?

my screw is a 4x4, 5.4 liter.

any suggestions?

thanks in advance, jackc...

I have an 01 screw, with dual exhaust, had it installed right after I left the Ford lot, the nice thing about the screw is they have a cat. converter on each bank of your exhaust, just below the manifolds, back by the tranny, the left exhaust connects to the right exhaust via a "Y" pipe, about 12" before the "Y" they cut my old exhaust, and cut out the "Y" in the pipe......Welded in new pipes that run side by side, back to 2ea three chamber flow masters, and then up over the rear axel and exit kinda like the old Trans-am style, that way when I'm in deep water and something should happen, my exhaust won't back fill with water.
cost about 350.00 and didn't touch any emission control stuff, WOW what a difference in throttle responce, and power.......good luck

your conversion sounds great!

i had some more questions, ie, as you said you did the upgrade
right after leaving the lot, have you had any negative warranty issues with your dealership?

while you report great things, how about mileage? any
negative imact there?

thanks for your reply, jackc...

No warranty issues with the Dealership, infact they thought the Exhaust shop did an exellent job, I ask them about voiding emmission's warranty, and they said as lone as I dont mess with the Cad. Conv. or the computer connections, I would be fine, as for gas milage, it improved about 1.5 mpg, and the only thing I lost in the process is back pressure, it don't slow down like it did when the standard pipes were on it, but I can live with it.
I have gotten alot of positive comments on the sound and the power gain, with a light rumble going 65mph, to look out here comes the Calvery if you put your foot in it, when you go under overpasses, it makes a nice rumble, I can't wait to have someone else drive it so I can hear what it sounds like on the open road.

Question What kind?

What kind of mufflers did you use? I am considering doing this to mine when the stock starts to wear out.

You'll be waiting a long time if you are going to wait for the factory to wear out! I am getting ready to do this same change and I currently have 75K miles on my 98 and that is still the factory exhaust!

First of all, sorry it took so long to answer, I've been to busy to be on the computer......as for mufflers, I used 2ea three chamber Flow Masters with 2.5" inlet and outlet, and all the way back.....hope that helps
