Madd,

Checked with the salesman today and that particular truck, which happened to be his demo, sold last night. I was trying to get some help from those of you with a little more (and maybe recent) exerience on what would be a realistic offer to make on that demo. Oh well, I snoozed, I lose.

Don't take it personal, I was just looking for some help on negotiating a good deal. That dealership is not very close to where I live, but the salesman was recommended by another f150online member. He has been helpful to date, but his demo deal is now gone. I was just trying to see if $1000 under invoice was a fair price since that was what he was asking. Most of you said it was not a good deal. I passed.

Thanks for your help!

Marc,

I appreciate your honesty about your post in the KR forum, but what I was talking about is actually in this forum, on this thread, up just a few posts. Here's the sentence that made me comment:

"Thanks for the lengthy feedback (and for staying with the topic). Hopefully others will do the same!"

You're reading more into that one Dave. That stemmed from another thread and I'm 99.9% sure he was saying that in a total joking manner....No worries man! NO WORRIES!

Back to the subject...

MikeF150 brings up a good point. If you keep living and wanting a purchase for the future 'best deal', you're going to miss out on whatever might be the best 'bang' right now. I believe that the deals running on the 02's are pretty damn good right now. Sure, they might drop it to 0% but, if they don't, and they hold at where they are now, you're going to miss the remaining 02's and, like Mike said, potentially pay a higher rate on the 03 (plus it's a known fact that the price on the 02 versus the 03 went up with identical equipment).

Good luck man. I don't blame you for researching it but, the time has come! GO MAKE AN OFFER! (easy for me to say, I'm already commited at 1.9%).

My view from a non KR or Lariat owner

When I went to the dealer I looked at the KR and really liked it.. but, pls remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I didnt like the paint colors that were available ('02). I really like black vehicles and it didnt come in black in '02.. Then I thought about the Lariat.. looked at them, measured my garage and went back to the dealer and bought a Lightning.. voila!! black and happy.. completely different story than the rest.. and I got to sell two vehicles to help pay for it since the L took care of my need for speed and my need to have a truck to tow stuff and haul stuff..
just my .02

RockPick, glad you liked it.. must have been the happy ending.. the only regret I have is that when the wife and I drive by a KR she always says, "I really like those trucks.. wish you would have gotten one...."

Look here Marc Stewart, If you can find a vehicle on a lot to your Likeing for invoice then buy it! You should be able to buy a Screw for invoice or $100.00 over invoice. Do not pay more then that! Okay? I was not lucky to find my vehicle on a lot, had to order it. COST$ 100.00 over invoice. A truck on a lot should be sold for no more then invoice price in my opinion. Get it, Got it, Good!

Go get your truck, or just order a 2003.........

Superbeast54,

Wil you get off my back already??? No I haven't bought the vehicle yet. Probably Sat. I work three jobs and happen to have Saturday off for a change. What ever happened to making a guy feel welcome?? If you are tired of all the questions, why not post something like, "will you hurry up and buy the truck already so you can post a picture?"

For others who have posted on this thread, I have found plenty of vehicles for invoice and may even be able to get an x-plan. It's purely a matter of economics. I am not a six figure income earner, can't afford a 4x4, and probably shouldn't be looking at a KR, but that's the one I like. I realize I am stalling and riding the fence, but unless I'm buying a pack of chewing gum, that's how I shop and I almost always get a good buy.

I also like to do my homework and have found this forum to be very useful. I have received an offer for an x-plan thru this forum and also have been given the name of a fleet sales manager who sells only at invoice, even if you don't own a fleet of vehicles.

But, apparently, my inquisitive nature has offended some of you in some way because I seem to be taking a lot of slack here recently. As others have said, I am the one making the payment and I am trying to see if I can really afford to make a change. In doing so, I have asked about price, color, and where to get a good deal. All of the feedback has been useful and all I can say is thanks.

If I make the buy, I'll make it my last post and let you know.

Just for the record, all these questions don't bother me. Ask away. But whatever you do, don't buy a Ford F150. Worst truck I ever owned. Hope this helps.

Just do what you need to do Marc. Take it easy man... and, like BD, I don't mind the questions. From what I recall, that's what the majority of us use these forums for... Q & A.

Everyone misinterprets something sometime. I think you've been misinterpreted by a few here and they have come off in a rather 'sharp' manner. Steer your course man. If a KR is what you can afford and want, get it. On the flip side, if it's going to put a big time strain on you and you live paycheck to paycheck to paycheck (between the three jobs) then, maybe the KR isn't the best choice. It's only a truck and transportation. You're not going to be feeding on the tires and using it for a shower. *shrugs* I know you follow me on this and I know you know what you need to do so... I'll leave it at that.

A short novel none-the-less eh?

LOL!

Marc,

Don't get something you can't afford. Keeping up a big truck and getting mods isn't cheap as I'm sure you're discovering.

However, if you buy a truck and post one last time, then you'll be fueling the very thing that's got everyone on edge...spending their precious time trying to help a fellow Ford owner. If you quit, then all our help will be seen as a waste in our eyes, but maybe not in yours.

Go with your gut...forget the truck in a flash if you really can't afford it and have money left over.

Later,

~DM~
