Congratulations GivingGround!

You are going to luv your truck! Tell all those jealous bozos to go soak their heads! White is a great color. In fact, I am in the process of acetoning my badges so I can replace the black with white. I'll see how they look all silver to start with but will probably go with more Oxford white.

Have you got the list of mods yet? It's inevitable...

after being a "ghost" to this site for some time..i had to re register to answer you call! i got my all white Screw in july of 2000,and the first thing i did was drop it 2/4 because i thought it looked stupid with the bed way up in the air.i love the way my truck sits and rides now.i allso put on a lightning front bumper because i wanted the truck all white..i hope to get some rims when i find something i like, and maybe some HD nerf bars.
and by the way,i know a guy with a HD S crew and he cant ride by a car wash without stoping! and his Screw is a dog.maybe thats why the put the lightning motor in the new ones?

Hey Cheleri,

Replacing the black with white would be interesting to see on the badges. After I acetoned my badges it looked so much better. I think you will like the all silver look.

Red face Sensitivity

LightningCrew - uh hem

Well apologies given

In GENERAL TERMS - "I" (who has a 4.6l) am NO WHERE near a lightning. "I" assumed that you had a 5.4l SC in there. "I" must be mistaken.

In GENERAL TERMS - that if you do not feel as though you are posing then, you are not!

Why is it I need to explain myself, nowhere in my post did I say that you, or anybody else for that matter, was posing! I made a blanket comment, I should have said I personally would feel like a poser, oops scratch that, not felt right, no that sounds bad too, I cannot under the 5th amendment say I like or dislike the lightning front ends under the grounds it may get someone irked.

If you see a few posts back Wes gave me some ***** about being a white board, I made a joke of it. I thought it was pretty damn funny.

My first job before I had gotten my Screw was to find a lightning front end because "I" think they are the hottest looking things out there. After reading for sometime in the lightning board I began to get a feel of needing something sporty, but not to look as though I had the power, because I don't.

If you feel as though I was attacking YOU, so be it. I happen to be very jealous of your vehicle (in truth) because of the exception way that it looks. I want to have an individual look as well.

Besides there can't be to white Lightning Screws in this neck of the woods any way

<off soap box>

Double G

Cheleri - I don't quite understand how you got the bike rack on the bed cover, I went your web site to see as well. You don't happen to have a shot/ explaination on how you did that.

fireman467 - That is a sweet ride. Aftermarket rims? look great, id still love to move up to that size/style rim.

To Giving Ground

You asked about the price to do the paint work!
Originally I was quoted $800.00 to do the job,
But when I decided I wanted House of Kolor, Pearl
because of the increased cost of the paint per quart, ($55.00)
and the fact that you can ONLY use House of Kolor reducers and clears over it, it raised the cost $300.00 for a grand total of $1100.00 Still cheap for all the work. As you can see in the photo album, the shop even went as far as to remove the bed to shoot the rear of the cab. I certainly was not expecting that.

Hey it's nice to see all the trucks with the FD630 air dam by
www.truckmasterdesigns.com it is a very agressive looking air dam. Now I have a question! Has anyone changed the driving lites in the FD630 airdam from the ones supplied with the airdam?? Both of my lenses are cracked, not leaking yet, but when they begin to hold water, I want to change them, maybe to a higher wattage bulb too instead of the H3-55 watt that comes with it.

Sorry Double G, it's just that a lot of people (only on this board and usually not L owners) have given me crap about doing what I did to my truck - not that I really give a s#!+. I did what I wanted to do to make it look good, and different - I have always loved the Lightning; however it is a little disfunctional when you need a vehicle that will seat more than two people. And they had not come out with the '02 HD - god knows if I had known they were coming out with that truck I would have waited. Yes, I may have gone a little far with the badges - I am actually working on replacing them right now - but I hate those boring F150 fender badges and did not want to shave the emblems which meant repainting the fenders because Ford cannot put on emblems straight without using holes!!! (I have harped on this one a time or two!!)

I get stopped all the time by people saying, "I did not know that they made a four-door Lightning" and I am the first to tell them that it is all just looks - don't have the supercharger (yet!!) And NEVER do I try to race someone that challenges me thinking that I might actually be an L - wouldn't want them going to their buddies saying they outran an L, because I definitely don't have one. Maybe I ought to, though, so next time when they come up against a real one, they will get spanked

My previous post was not an attack on you - guess I was tired of the "posing" issue - in the Harley forum there were some people complaining about a guy who put HD emblems on an Expedition and they were calling him a poser. If he likes HD, why can't he put the emblems on there without being criticized??

By the way, I mentioned before that I was working on replacing the L badges - I ordered some AVALANCHE badges today!!!

No Hatfield MaCoy thing here!

LightningCrew - glad to hear there is no beef, and sorry for all the grief you get. I have the same issue about space. I had originally posted on the L board sometime ago about using babyseats in the L. That's sad

I went to talk to a body shop today to find out about the overspray issue under the hood. He mentioned that a L front end would be sweet on the front of my Screw. I may be backpeddling now .

So I have a question: did you get the bumper and wheels locally, or did you special order? Now the price issue again aprox? I really want the wheels bad!

XTRUKY - Thanks, now I have some pricing ammo to submit to my CFO. I'd like to do something similar, but my wife says "no" to the pearl orange, Darn. Well I guess she doesn't have to drive it

I emailed Truckmaster Designs about the cracking fog lamps in the airdam. Their email is below. They said they aren't aware of any issues there. Both of my lamps have horizontal and vertical cracks. I tried replacing them with some of those cheap Blazer lights in Wal-mart. I figured I could just transplant the lens since the body wouldn't work in the airdam. There's just enough difference where that lens won't work. Maybe we'll start gathering people together and get replacement lenses.

Michael,
We don't know of any light problems as you report, but will keep your e-mail on file. In regards to ground effects, we will introduce fullsize Chevy/GMC 1999-up truck ground effects later this year. At this moment I do not know which truck will be next. Thank you for your business and interest in our products.

10-4 on the lights

I ran across a KC lites website and see that they have a 3x5
driving lamp, I wonder if that one would fit in the TMD FD 630???

I see that your handle is a little more obvious then mine
have you studied it and figured it out??

xtruky (could only fix 6 letters on AZ personalized plates)

in plain english it would go like this, Ex Truckie
as in former Firefighter/EMT assigned to a truck company

Visit my photo album, I have some pics of the Fire Dept I was associated with for 14 years back in North West Indiana.
I was assigned to Rescue 2, theres a pic of it in there
the Big Squad.

Fireman, I need some info

What type of Strobes do you have hidden??
I have had the Galls alternating headlamp system since the truck was new. I used to shoot film for the Gilbert Fire Dept here in AZ
and did Crime Scene Photography for the PD. So I sat idle at scenes for guite a while or I bloocked traffic for an LZ for a chopper, etc. But now I am working for the Maricopa County Sheriff, Sheriff Joe! Ever heard of him?? Anyhow, I am looking into Strobes now. I've been thinkin about Tomar Hyper Strobes, simply B/C they are right here in town in case of problems
What do you use to control the strobes, etc. Thanks

I bought a Galls 6 outlet 90 watt power supply with 6 strobe bulbs off of eBay really cheap. Given a choice, I would have gotten the Nova random pattern power supply. http://strobeguy.safeshopper.com/5/1821.htm?795 I think I am using the quad flash pattern on mine (but would rather use the random or chaos patterns from that Nova). My siren controller is hidden as is my speaker. I made a semi-hidden switch box to control my lights and siren and used regular toggle switches from Radio Shack.

My switchbox is a Radio Shack project box. I cut holes for all my switches in the front. It is attached underneath the steering column. I drilled holes in the top og the box to attach to the stock screw location holding the plastic around the steering column. A little bit of paint matching the interior, and it all blends in, stays out of the way, stays out of site, and makes for a clean install.

This is off the topic, but if you want to know any more, email me.
