Why aren't factory fog lights a 2WD option?

I'm still pricing out and picking options for my 03 Super Crew on the KBB website. I now see that you can't get the factory fog lights on a 2WD Super Crew, what gives? I checked the 4WD Crews and they're standard equipment but they're not even an option for the 2WD Crews. To me that doesn't make sense! I'll see if I can buy the factory fogs from the dealer and have them installed. I like the factory look when it comes to fog lights, I don't like after market ones in the factory holes or hanging from the bumper. I put my future Crew in my sig., I've decided I'm going to get the Lariat edition and just have to get use to the leather interior. I want the 17" wheels and the 3.73 gears which I don't think I can get on the XLT Crew. If by chance I can get them in an XLT, then that's what I'll get. The price difference from the XLT to the Lariat for the exact same options is about $1,500. The lariat does come with a few standard features that the XLT doesn't, so the price really isn't that bad. The KBB website says invoice for the Lariat Crew I want is $28, 596.00. I'm probably about 6 months from getting one but I'm already shopping .

***this is your problem right here

I now see that you can't get the factory fog lights on a 2WD Super Crew, what gives? I checked the 4WD Crews and they're standard equipment but they're not even an option for the 2WD Crews.

***nothing gives, you can get them as part of a convieniance package

I don't like after market ones in the factory holes or hanging from the bumper.

***there are some much better performing lights availible from the aftermarket that (Hella FF series) also look very good

just have to get use to the leather interior.

***hummmm, have you checked into the leather qaulity? I recommend the cloth. If you 'must' have leather you can get some better seats and put them in

I want the 17" wheels and the 3.73 gears which I don't think I can get on the XLT Crew.

***Yes, you can get them both on the XLT. and I HIGHLY recommend the 3.73 limited slip

I'm probably about 6 months from getting one but I'm already shopping .

***That's the best thing you can do. Take your time to consider what you want and then in 6 months, when the '04s are about to come out you will be able to get a great deal on the older, outgoing model.

Petrol! So KBB is wrong about the 17" wheels and tires, and the 3.73 gears on a 2WD 03 Super Crew XLT? I curtanly don't see them any where, on the 4WD yes, not the 2WD's.
Thanks, Jim

JUST SO HAPPENS!

I just picked up my 2WD Ford valance and foglights today from my local dealer. They do make them for 2WD's but not the SCREW. The 2WD Expys come with fogs. Really not that expensive.

n6van! By "expys" you mean Expedition? Sorry, new to the Ford lingo . So the bumpers are the same on the Crews end Expys, and the lower valance is a direct swap!? Thanks for the info..

I just went the route fo the PIAA

I was told the same thing ( right or wrong ) about the 2wd front airdam not being available for the SCrew.

So I did not give that money to Ford, I went and got the PIAA airdamn and mounted this instead. I have a set of 510s in there, and a set of 520s.

Also I get some nice lower area for my brake duct to add for the heat shield that I am building for my K&N.

Some people don't like them....so it is a matter of personal taste.
I just took a quick pic in my galery if you want to check it out.

jefflaws! How much is this kit about, I know price will vary depending on the area. Does Ford have a website to by Ford items directly from a whole saler? GM has one (www.gmpartsdirect.com) and their prices are really good compared to going to the dealer to get the same item.
Thanks, Jim

My step dad (if that's what a 41 year old calls his mothers husband) Has a '02 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat 2WD, 5.4L 3.73 Limited slip

they (Ford dealer) had a XLT on the lot with everything (including factory fog lights) but he wanted the leather so he got the lariat that was also on the lot

And you wonder why dealers have a bad name,

This is yet another reason that Dealers get a bad name with thier customers. Most of the time the customer knows more about the product then the guy who is getting paid to know about it and sell it.
