That Bed Rug looks darn nice, but not practical for my needs in Montana. I could just imagine a day in the woods with pine needles and other material getting all over that rug causing a huge mess to clean. So I suppose it all depends upon your application. If your use is city only, go with the rug. Otherwise get a hard liner.

I just picked my SCREW up today after having a few things added with the purchase. It included the addition of a SuperLiner. To be honest I knew very little about the various alternatives and had a great deal on this liner. SuperLiners look very similar to Rhinos, except they are no where near as sticky. Solid enough to move anything across the surface with no problems. Some other research on the net revealed this is a darn good liner, just not much info in the public domain. I suppose time will tell.

Anyhow, check out a superliner.

for what it is worth....

I will agree that the bed rugs look area nice.
Myself I have the old reliable bed mat.
It is just the heavy duty rubber mat that is in the bottom only.
I have had these for the past 3 pickups ( ~ 12 years ) and like them better then a drop in liner ( penta liner style ).

If Dad wants an opinion, mine is still with the bed mat after all these years.
Pros
- Low Cost
- Things don't slide at all on it.
- clean up; take it out wash it with soap and a push broom.

Cons :
- Thigns don't slide easy, for putting things in.
- The sides are not protected ( need to have care when putting things in.

Additional Eratta ( aka bable on )
I also have a cap on my truck so it does not show, if you have a toneau top that hides it all the same ( they only come in black ).

Nothing slides on it at all ( which can make for a pain putting stuff in sometimes b/c it won't slide ).

They are cheap, I got it with my cap at a Century Cap dealer, but I am sure any cap dealer would have them.

I have seen 3 other trucks with the spray in liners, and the place that did them did a poor job, so if you go with the spray in pick a place that you have seen thier work, not just the cheapest.

I did use the do it yourself bed liner on the steps into my basement at home, that works great <g>, but stunk to high hell for about a week after words, so the same might apply to the spray ins from places ( might want to plan on leaving your truck out side for a few days, less your garage will smell like the stuff ).

In concert with the bed mat, I use the Hi-Lift slide and lock tie down system. Gives added options for securing things, I just had to cut down the length a bit, due to the shorter then short bed length ( hack saw, Roto zip with cut off wheel, or similar ).

That is the long wind that I have for the moment.

I've heard of having a rugrat but a curtain commando is a whole new term for me.

If I were to get a Retrax bed cover first, would I have a harder time getting a spray in or bedrug installed later? I am still taking in all of the opinions for the bed liner.

Not at all. The Retrax can be removed in no time to allow for installation of whatever bedliner you might choose. It is attached to the bed rails by six clamps - no drilling, no bolting, no nothing. You would just want a place to set it and someone to help you lift it off the truck. [It can be picked up by one person, but it is rather unwieldy to move.]

Great. I am going for the Retrax first. I have roommates so there will always be someone around to help me remove it if necessary.

Phew, well at least I am glad I can make a decision about that because I change my mind on the bedliner issue everyday.

I may be going to SoCal this weekend so if anyone has a customizing or accessories shop I should visit, please let me know.

LAwgrrl.

The F150 world CA chapter is having a big family picnic in Corona on Sunday afternoon. Trucks from all over SOcal will be there.

I went to dinner with five of these guys and got about 100 great ideas for my tuck. Let me know if you want directions. We'd luv to have you stop by......

If you haven't already ordered the Retrax, you should give Joe Oliver a call. Another SCrew owner just ordered one from him and said he beat the nearest competitors price by about $65 delivered. I ordered both of mine from Joe, and he was much better on the price than anyone else.

Joe's contact info:

You can tell him Jeff Mayfield (me )said to order from him. Don't know if it will make a difference or not, but I have bought two from him and had at least a couple of other people referred to him.

You will like, perhaps even LOVE, the cover when you get it on the truck!

Thanks for the info on the Retrax. Will do.

Iwao, we are doing an IKEA day run on Saturday. I don't know if I will have the time but send me the information anyway. Some of my roommate will get a kick out of it if I can do it.

I know I'm gonna get in trouble for doing this someday, but here is a link to the picnic info. I'm not sure how the sites feel about linking to eachother, but oh well. It's suppossed to start at 10:00AM but I think most people will be getting there a bit later.

Lawgrrl - the bedrug doesn't go over the inner edge of the bedrails, so it should work fine.

As for curtain commandos. There is a site that is dedicated to "childfree" living. ie couples that don't want to have kids, they have a bunch of humourous (some not) desribing kids....

Wink

Bought my Screw about 2 weeks ago. Pick it up on a Friday and sold my other car on the following Saturday. On the way home from selling the car, with a wad of cash in my pocket, I talked my wife into stopping by the local truck supply dealer. Picked up a Bedrug and spent about an hour installing it. The installation was very very easy. My Screw is black and the dark gray bedrug looks great.

I figured if I ever need to haul something messy, I would just head to Wal-mart and buy a $10 blue tarp.
