Bedliner Choices
Bed Rug options.
Ok here's a couple of points to think about.
My truck hauls around a lot of muddy dirty gear and the bedrug washes right out. They even say that oil comes out but I don't think I'd want to try it. So wood, plants, dirt and rocks should be fine in the BedRug. I just bought a bunch of river rock for our landscaping and the rug cleaned up fine.
The BedRug is not permanent if you find that it doesn't work out for you it will come out easily with out damaging the bed. It might be a little work to remove the adhesive from the double stick velcro but it does come off. I don't think you can say the same about a spray in, once it's in it's in for good.
I think the only thing I would not consider hauling around in my Bedrug would be oily car parts other than that I would pretty much haul around most stuff.
It is also a lot better if you plan on hauling around anything of value such as antiques. Things don't really slide around on it and it would provde a lot better protection to any type of furniture. So if your heart is set on a spray in go for it but judging from what you say you'll be using it for I'd have to say the BedRug is a lot better option and like I said if don't work out I'm sure you can find some one on this forum to buy it from you.

To support Iwao's points...
I have, on more than one occasion, helped people move (bad thing about having a truck- as you've already found out
). Anyway, a hard liner like Line-X will scrape the $#!* out of wood furniture if you drag it across the bed while loading or unloading it. If you mostly haul plants & antiques, then you should seriously consider the BedRug.

Remember the '70s and the meteoric rise of all of the rustproofing businesses. I am inclined to believe spray-in liners will find their place in history alongside the rustproofers. My advice, go with something replaceable (a drop-in or bedrug). My Duraliner uses the tie down screw holes to anchor it in place. Tight fit and no movement.
YET ANOTHER BEDRUG ADVANTAGE!
Since the BedRug flattens out the bed by filling in the groves it can also make a great place to crash for the night or a few nights for that matter. Try that with a spray on liner.
I have Rhino in my truck and if I could do it again I would have gotten LineX! Much nicer, looks like a factory job, better texture and more durable than Rhino. Matter of fact I have a new Screw on order, waiting for it to come in and I will most likely go with the Bedrug this time around. Spray ins are nice but they are hard and get scratched. I can't see spending $400 and my bed getting scratched. I am still researching the Bedrug to see if water will soak through or get trapped underneath!
Question for ya all on the bed rugs, how did you keep the tie downs on the side? Did you cut a slit for them, or make some holes for them on the side then screw them back in. OR have you just left them out?
I am leaning more twoard the Line-X but the bed rug would be kinda nice. Also what did everyone pay for theres?

Make holes for the tie downs for the Bedrug is what people are doing. Cheapest for the bedrug is $300 shipped to the door is what I have found. Thats from the guy named Randy. Check the bedrug threads and you will see his name and number. He is the cheapest i have found. I am leaning toward a Bedrug myself. I just want to know that water will not get trapped under it.
Bedrug answers
I put my truck thru a carwash from time to time and it is outside all the time. The water does not get trapped in the bed or under the rug. The water drains out of the front and back seams of the bed just like if you had no liner in it at all. The water in the rug drys right away in the sun.
I pulled my rug up a bit to check it out and after four months the bed under the rug looks brand new. The rug filters out any dirt or debris (you can vacume or wash it out when dry) so the bed doesn't even get dirty under the rug.
The tie downs are removed before installation and re attached with the same screws as abefor. I think the guy who installed mine just poked a couple of small holes in the rug for the screws.
I bought mine as soon as I bought my truck and I didn't even know that you can buy it online and install it your self. so I paid 360.00 for mine installed.
As to the post about doing a linex or rhino and then a bedrug, well to me that would be like getting a vasectomy and then still wearing a condom, too much protection.
I have some more BedRug pics in my gallery.

Bed Rug
Gee IWAO...umm....thanks for the example. Very descriptive...
I am concerned about the effect of the intense summer heat where I am on the adhesive for the Bed Rug or the spray liners. I have been told that Rhino Liner does better in the heat and that Line-X has a tendency to be more brittle and crack from the heat.
Also, I called the local Rhino liner, Line X and AlphaLiner guys and Rhino Liner is cheapest at $299.00, AlphaLiner is around $350.00 and Line X runs from $375.00 to $575.00 if I wanted to match the liner to my truck color. I can't coordinate my work clothes let alone pay $600.00 to match my bedliner to my truck.

uhmmm, sorry about that. I forgot who started the thread.
my bad.
I can understand your concern and I would probably worry too. I figure the tie downs will keep it from flying out if I was on the freeway and the adhesive on the velcro gave loose. But I sincerely can't tell you how it would hold up in your weather. Maybe someone else who lives in a hotter place can tell you.
Plus, the cool thing about having this truck for me has been thinking of all the cool ways I can Mod it. I get a ton of ideas from this site and the "other" site. Some I dismiss and others inspire me. My tight budget forces me to think long and hard about what Mods I want so I'm usually sure about something before I do it and it sounds like you are doing the same thing, ask questions and get opinions and then decide. If there was only one way to do everything all of our trucks would look a like and I think this is what we all try to avoid.
Good luck and get some pics up so we can see your rig.

I'm in Los Alamitos also.
I live in the Highlands, where are you????
As a matter of fact I've probably seen you around while dropping off the kids at school. Actually after seeing your profile I'm pretty sure I have.

Iwao:
You are right and your creativity (both literary and truckwise in your postings) has inspired me to get creative with the mods. I am going to the customizing shops in my area this weekend and find out what my fellow truck owners are doing here with regard to mods and the heat. With the information you all have been gracious enough to impart, I feel prepared.
By the way, I was not offended by the posting. The description suited the issue quite well.
If I my roommates can't find their digital camera, I will get my Dad's and get some pictures up. I just have to send emails to friends and family.
