It has a nice wide opening. It slides all the way back, you can still see a little glass, but not enough to bother you.

Enjoy,

Rick

The roof opens all the way. when the roof is closed the solid shade does not open all the way so that you can have 100% glass but when you open the window that also goes all the way back giving you 100% hole.

Anyone had the moonroof installed later? I have heard about some leakage problems but that may depend on which dealer does the installation.

got the factory sunroof when I ordered my tuck over a year ago. Over 23,000 miles and no problems. Love the option. Use it quite a bit o get the heat out of the truck. You won't be disappointed.

I've had some leaking issues with my moonroof. It will only leak under VERY VERY HEAVY rain however. Plan on taking the truck in very very soon to have some seals replaced. Other than that, I LOVE THE MOONROOF. I rarely use the AC... I love the fresh air...

No leaks on mine, delivered 26 December. I even left the glass up in the tilt mode one night in the rain and I was suprised it stayed dry inside. Got lucky on that one. The only leaks I've ever had with sunroofs were a bad gasket on an aftermarket sunroof on my Mazda truck and a plugged drain hose on my Accord that kept the water in the housing until I turned at the bottom of the drive. Cold water down the back, a great way to start a morning off.

WebbDogg- I originally was looking for a SCrew with the moonroof but ended up finding the perfect SCrew on the lot I wanted, but without the moonroof. I asked the dealer about installing a moonroof in it, and he said that they could do if for about the same price, however he did warn me that the aftermarket moonroof is about 3/4 the size of the factory moonroof. Just a little FYI.

hey WebbDogg, I had Grants Auto Trim here in Chattanooga to install an aftermarket Moonroof and Jim did an excellent job. The roof opens all the way you can even program it to open half way or wherever you want it. Never had any leaks but I'll tell ya and I believe anyone with a Moonroof or sunroof will agree, these new touchless carwahses will put a good pounding on your roof. I went through one on two seperate occasions and both times the water was hitting soo hard that I got a little spray from above. Don't think I'll be going back to one. I see that you are in ATL and I'll hook you up with info if you need it. Jim is a great guy and follows up on his work if there is a problem.

Completely OPEN or NOT

I was interested in the original question that started this thread. I have an 01 Screw that just last week stuck in open. Fortunately it didn't rain and also fortunately the truck's still under warranty. The dealer replaced the motor and something he called the module. Works now but we had to take it back to have them adjust the track and gearing so that it would open all the way. Got it back this evening and it STILL doesn't open fully. The headliner part slides all the way in but there's still about 1 - 2 inches of window showing. I KNOW it opened completely from the factory so I guess I'm going to have to take it in for the third time so they can get it right. This is a huge window, 41 inches wide and one of my favorites of this trucks many options.
(Getting my catback put on Thursday :-)))

Madd is correct.

Of course, the possibility exists that the dealership has screwed up the total travel length of your roof but, Madd is correct in saying that it does still show about 1.5" of glass even though the cover is totally out of sight.

Just thought I'd toss in my $0.02. Best of luck getting to the bottom of this.

open all the way ???

I spoke with the service manager about the sunroof "full open" issue since they've had it in a second time to adjust it. He called Ford and the "official word" is that it does not open all the way although the liner does disappear when the glass is fully open. It was pointed out to me that if the glass were to disappear into the roof all the way it would be deeper to the back than the headliner has room for.
Seems like an engineering/design flaw to me if correct. If it wasn't so damn hard to get the headliner off I'd fiddle with it myself. May be that if it goes back any further the design won't allow it to close fully making it subject to leaking more easily.
