AC problems

The heat is hovering around 100 F and my Supercrew's a.c. stopped working. Ford told me that the compressor needs to be replaced and it would take 5 days(?) to obtain one. Question:
Has anyone else have had a similair problem? Truck's mileage is only 18K.

As you can see from my signature, we have about the same truck. I have 17K miles on mine.

My A/C has gone out four times (not as many times as it sounds considering my A/C is on all the time). Guess the compressor doesn't come on. If I stop the truck with the switch turned to Panel, restart the truck with a good press of the throttle, I can turn the A/C on and it works.

I will report it next time I take it to the dealer.

I had a Pathfinder that used to misbehave like this when the battery became very old. Wasn't enough juice to reset everything when the truck was cold started. Problems permanantly went away with a new battery.

I don't think that is the problem here, though.
